Dasher and I took advantage of a rare sunny day in what has been a rainy Spring to walk the trail to Lake Wilderness Park in Maple Valley.

Why I Love Maple Valley!

On one of the best days of the year, the reflection of Mt Rainier can be seen on Lake Wilderness.

Maple Valley 4th Of July

The tall trees make a beautiful backdrop as we watch the Maple Valley 4th Of July celebration at Lake Wilderness Park. 

Dasher Beats The Heat

Last Thursday Dasher escaped the 90 degree heat by taking a dip in Lake Wilderness. The geese in the background were not too pleased, as Dasher took their spot.  Lake Wilderness is located in the center of Maple Valley.  It's park is the city's primary recreation spot.

Maple Valley Days

Maple Valley Days, the yearly local festival, takes place this weekend at Lake Wilderness Park.  There is a parade Saturday morning on Witte Road.  There will be music, rides, and booths all weekend.

Rockin' The Park On Maple Valley Days

We caught the Peter Benjamin Band at Maple Valley Days until the rain came pouring down.  Even though it looks sparse, there actually was a decent crowd on hand enjoying the music, which ranged from standards from artists like Bruce Springsteen and Buddy Holly, to the band's own material.  Maple Valley days is an annual festival, taking place in Lake Wilderness Park.

Maple Valley Music In The Park Creme Tangerine

I was walking Dasher down the Lake Wilderness Trail when I heard Beatle music playing--I thought maybe there was a wedding at the Lodge.   When I got to the park, I realized  I had walked into Maple Valley's weekly Music In The Park.  Creme Tangerine, a Seattle based Beatles tribute band was playing.   There was a great turn out of people, who brought lawn chairs, blankets, and coolers. Lake Wilderness made a great backdrop.

I found this lone maple leaf on the ground in Maple Valley's showcase park, Lake Wilderness.  I took the picture because the leaf is part of the city logo.

Beautiful Weekend In Maple Valley

Last Saturday, the weather was freezing but it was sunny outside.  Having the day off, I decided to walk the Lake Wilderness Trail with Dasher.  The middle picture is the narrow path that connects the trail to the park.  I took the bottom picture from where the Lake Wilderness Lodge is.  You can see Mt. Rainier in the background.

A Warm Weekend

Maple Valley's most popular park and public beach, Lake Wilderness was packed as temperatures were in the 80s this last weekend.  I rode my bike over to get a little sunshine as the cooler weather could be arriving soon.

Maple Valley Days Starting To Take Shape

Maple Valley Days will commence this weekend at beautiful Lake Wilderness Park. The rides where already to go when I dropped by after walking the Wilderness Trail this evening.

2010 Maple Valley Days This Weekend

Maple Valley's festival of fun "Maple Valley Days" starts Friday June 11th. Sunshine and Warm weather are in the forecast for the annual community get together which features carnival rides, various vendors, music, and a big parade on Saturday.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of Maple Valley's finest weekend. The fun takes place at
Lake Wilderness Park23601 224th Ave SE Maple Valley, WA.

Lake Wilderness Trail In Maple Valley

Last Tuesday, Rusty and I stopped to walk on the Lake Wilderness Trail. It is right in the center of Maple Valley. We started at the church on Witte Road and followed the trail through a tunnel that went under the road. It wound through the Lake Wilderness Arboretum and eventually to the Lake Wilderness Park, which is what you see in this picture. It was a clear warm evening and the Mountain was out.

Lake Wilderness is in the center of Maple Valley. The park surrounding it is the hub of summer activities in the area. It has become the banner picture for this blog.

It's This Weekend!

Maple Valley Days is happening this weekend (June 13-15) at Lake Wilderness Park. There will be food, arts and crafts, entertainment and much more at the annual festival.

MV Days This Weekend

Anyone around the greater Puget Sound area who wonders why I write so lovingly about Maple Valley can find out this weekend as our community hosts the 57th annual Maple Valley Days. The festivities begin this Friday at Lake Wilderness Park 23601 224th Ave SE Maple Valley. There will be carnival rides, arts and crafts, food and entertainment. The festival runs through Sunday, June 10th.
