Saun Alexander ran for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Seattle Seahawks smothered the Carolina Panthers 34-14. The win sends the 'Hawks to their very first Superbowl ending 31 years of near-misses and frustration for the team.
The Seahawks have perhaps the NFL's most underrated defense yielding only 62 and 3 first downs in the entire first half.
The Hawks will take on the Pittsburg Steeler in Superbowl 40 on February 5 in Detroit Michigan and for the those of us who watch the classic every year, we longer have to root for someone else's team.

Did the Governor declare a state holiday? Did anyone show up for work or is the party still on? Minnesota hasn't been to a Super Bowl in so long, no one is alive who saw the game on TV. I assume shopping malls will close up and life will come to a halt on Super Bowl Sunday in Seattle-Tacoma. The shelves of liquor stores will be empty. Do you still have State owned liquor stores? Rest assured that although it will be huge in Pittsburg and Seattle, we will go through the motions on Super Bowl Sunday in Minnesota although I will cheer on the Hawks if I remember to turn on the TV. Channel 13 in Tacoma? I know you have lots of Albertson's stores in WA and Minesota's SuperValu bought the Big A, which was a major employer when I lived in Boise in the 60s.
I thought the Bears had a lock on the big prize, but what do I know? Ain't it suspicious that the scores were identical in both playoff games this past weekend? The fix is in? How can you resist going to Detroit in February? Better than Tahiti or not. I am sure that ABC is somewhat disappointed that two big city teams are not playing in the Big Bow -- like Chicago and NY. It could have been worse -- Green Bay and Nashville.
