Lee Goldberg Returns For Book Signing

Almost 18 years to the day I watched Lee and his brother, Tod at a book signing at U Village, Deb and I got another book signed, this time at Third Place Books in Seattle suburb Lake Forest Park. 

 Lee, my cousin, appeared with fellow author and friend, Robert Dugoni to promote his latest book, Calico.

Dugoni, a mystery writer (right in lower picture) interviewed Lee in the presentation.  

Calico is Goldberg's first Western. It is a story taking place in the late 1800s.  Lee lives in the greater LA area.

 I've started on Gated Prey, the third in Lee Goldberg's Eve Ronin series and my fourth book (I started with the last, Movieland and got hooked).  You can find the book by clicking here.

Goldberg Movieland Novel Out

 Lee Goldberg has announced his new work, Movieland is out.  On his latest blogpost, Goldberg said the book is fiction but based on a real series of murders in Malibu Creek Park., where residents and townspeople are not necessarily believing that the police have been totally forthcoming the facts. 

This is part of Goldberg's Eve Ronin series of books. This will be the first of that series that I will read.

Lee Goldberg Remembers Sean Connery

 My cousin, Lee Goldberg, has written a great post on seeing the late film icon Sean Connery in an L.A. movie theatre.  If we have the fortune to meet a celebrity, we are prone to reminisce about the encounter when we hear of their passing.

Well Known Network Exec Fred Silverman Dies

Fred Silverman, perhaps the most famous network "suit" of all time died last week at 82.  Silverman was  regularly featured in TV Guide at a time, when the medium was dominated by the big 3, CBS, ABC, and NBC.  

Silverman started with CBS being credited with making it a success.   He then moved on to ABC, again helping to make that network number one in the ratings. He then could not resist the challenge to go to NBC, which at the time, was the struggling network,  his tenure there was not as successful, however, he may have "planted the seeds" that allowed that network to later have a roaring comeback.

Killer Thriller--Review

Killer Thriller is Lee Goldberg's follow up to True Fiction.  It contains a huge surprise in the  middle of the story.  It takes Ian Ludlow and Margo French across Asia and France in another rollicking adventure.
After turning down an offer to join the CIA, Ian Ludlow returns to his normal life of writing for TV shows and novels.  One of his novels of action hero, Clint Striker, is being turned into a movie.  Ludlow is invited to travel to Hong Kong to observe the project.
While preparing for his trip, he encounters a desolate Margo French, who because of their thrashing of a house and stealing (actually borrowing) a car in their last adventure, has lost her dog walking business.  Feeling guilty, Ludlow offers to bring Margo on his trip to be a research assistant.
Meanwhile, there is upheaval in Hong Kong, as a series of businessmen have disappeared, one of them is the father of an actor in the Striker movie.  The Chinese government, seems to think that Ludlow is a US operative doing espionage and want to find out what his real motives are in traveling to Hong Kong.

Lee Goldberg Interviewed By Brother

I've been excited to follow the careers of Lee and Tod Goldberg.  After all, their grandfather and my grandfather were brothers. Lee and I used to play together when we were children, during the family's summer visits from the Bay Area.  Now both of them are award winning, well regarded authors and Lee has also been a television writer and producer. 
In Lee's recent blog post, he talks about being interviewed by brother, Tod for the Los Angeles Review Of Books  (LARB).  The interview brought back memories for me as their Mom, who was an influence on my blog, passed away a few years ago.

True Fiction--Lee Goldberg Tongue-In-Cheek Thriller

Readers can have fun figuring out what is truth and what is fiction in this crazy romp by TV writer author Lee Goldberg.  Goldberg used his former pen name, Ian Ludlow as a writer trying to escape what he believes is a government plot to destroy him and his unwitting accomplice.
Much of the action takes place in Seattle, but moves down the West Coast as Ian and Margo French try to escape their hunters. 
There are inside jokes such as Ian and Margo (a Seattleite originally from Walla Walla) hiding out in a house in the Laurelhurst remarkably similar to one owned by the author's uncle. 
The book seems to have a moral that today's social media and electronics can make life easier and connect us, but can also surrender our security and privacy.
There is plenty of the Goldberg observational humor employed in books by both Lee and his brother, Tod.  Both authors can see things that places and situations that most people can not.

Walla Walla Paper Does Feature On Goldberg

The Walla Walla Union-Bulletin recently did a feature on TV writer-novelist Lee Goldberg.  Goldberg, a cousin of mine, has a new novel  called True Fiction.
 Lee's connection to Walla Walla is his mom, the late Jan Curran, my Uncle Dave's daughter, who graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1955.  UB writing Annie Charnley Eveland, who wrote the article on Goldberg, formed a long distance friendship with Curran, herself a newspaper feature writer. 

TV Industry Mourns Garry Marshall

Several TV industry blogs are mourning the passing of TV producer Garry Marshall, who died Tuesday.  An actor, producer, writer and, director, Marshall is credited for such comedies as Happy Days, Odd Couple, Laverne And Shirley, and Pretty Woman.   Lee Goldberg remembers Marshall as a mensch in this article. The Job--Another Great Beach Read!

For the third summer in a row, I read the latest novel from Lee Goldberg and Janet Evanovich, The Job.  The chemistry between the two protagonists, Kate O'Hare and Nicolas Fox is so great, you wonder if they reflect the two authors.   With all characters developed in the two previous novels, this one jumps right in to the action.  This time, the two must hunt down a ruthless drug lord.  As clichéd as that may sound, the twists and turns along way will keep you on the edge of your seat. This book also has the ruthless sidekick to beat all other ruthless sidekicks.  The Job is available on Amazon.  The first two books in this series were The Heist and The Chase.

The Chase--A Fun Summer Read

Much like Lt Gerard devotes his career to capturing Richard Kimball in The Fugitive, FBI special agent Kate O'Hare has dedicated her life to capturing international con man, Nicholas Fox. In the first installment of this series, O'Hare learns that after Fox escapes from her clutches yet again, she is part of a secret government scheme for her to work with the criminal mastermind.  However, she is on her own on this.  A bad move can lead to her arrest and conviction. 
In The Chase, the stakes get high, as the duo is charged  with recovering a stolen artifact that if not recovered could destroy relations between the US and China.  The twist is that the artifact is held by a  well known trusted government figure. Add to the fact, he has a ruthless security team protecting his house. 
A well rounded group of characters are either introduced or brought back by "The Heist" to make this a fun read.  The contrast in character between the straight laced, dedicated O'Hare and the charming Fox, continues to make great chemistry for this series.
The Chase is the latest release from mystery writer Janet Evanovich and TV writer Lee Goldberg.

Lee Goldberg And Partner Have New Book

The follow up to the Lee Goldberg and Janet Evanovich best seller The Heist is now available.  The Chase continues the adventures of  die hard FBI agent Kate O'Hare and her quest to bring down con man Nicolas Fox.  Both Goldberg and Evanovich are well known for solo projects.  I read The Heist and found it very entertaining.   You can order The Chase by clicking here.

National Advertising For The Heist

This ad for Lee Goldberg's latest novel The Heist, which he co-authored with Janet Evanovich, was found in the July 1st addition of People Magazine.  The book has been on the New York Times fiction best seller's list for well over a month.

Lee Goldberg's best selling book, "The Heist" is featured  on this Sunset Blvd. billboard in Los Angeles.  Lee co-authored the book with Janet Evanovich.  The billboards along The Strip are usually for new movie and album releases.  Incidentally, I just finished the book, it was thoroughly enjoyable.

Lee Goldberg And Partner Combine To Write Best Seller

My cousin Lee Goldberg a TV writing veteran has teamed up with romance writer Janet Evanovich to release The Heist, now number 4 on the New York Times Best Seller list.   The two have been touring the nation to promote the book.  In this interview on the CBS morning program, Janet talks about the genesis of the book and what it is about.  The book is about FBI special agent Kate O'Hare, a former Navy Seal (although in reality, there are no female Navy Seals).  O'Hare is dedicated to capturing one criminal, Nicolas Fox, but there is a twist!  You can order a copy of The Heist by clicking here.
