Bohemian Rhapsody Film Earns 5 Oscar Nominations

Bohemian Rhapsody picked up 5 nominations for this year's Academy Awards including Best Picture and also, Best Actor for Rami Malek, who portrayed Queen's lead singer, Freddy Mercury.
In addition, the picture received nominations for sound editing, sound mixing, and film editing.

Having watched the movie last November, I really think it really has a chance.  The music still rings in my ears today and the theatre audience applauded when the movie came to an end.

Walla Walla High School Grad Hoover Wins Oscar

Congratulations go to Richard Hoover, Walla Walla High School Class Of '75, for winning an Oscar for "Best Visual Effects".  Hoover (left), shared the award with (left to right)  Paul Lambert, Gerd Nefzer, and John Nelson for the movie "Blade Runner 2049".  It was the third nomination and first win for Hoover, who is visual effects supervisor for Framestore.   Hoover has previously worked for Disney and Sony Pictures.

Horray For Hollywood--Southern California IV

Wednesday was warm and sunny so we spent the entire morning at the pool, it was also our last day there.  We got a free lunch by attending a World Mart presentation, then packed to head to the airport.
We first drove to LA and went into Hollywood, we tried to drive to see the Hollywood sign (second from bottom) but it was gated.
We then drove down Hollywood Boulevard to the Walk Of Fame,  much of the Boulevard was blocked off to prepare for the Oscar Presentations which will be held tomorrow (Sunday February26th).  We saw what little of the "Red Carpet" that was not covered (top picture).   The Kodak Theatre (second and third from top) where the Oscar celebration is held, was closed, but is next to the Chinese Theatre where the stars foot prints are embedded.  Actually, the Hard Rock Cafe is between the two theatres.
