It's 49ers Vs Chiefs

The San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in this year's  Super Bowl.  Both teams have won the Lombardi Trophy decades ago.  The Chief's, who were in the first Super Bowl, losing to the Green Bay Packers,  would come back and win Super Bowl 4.  They are returning with the record of longest time between Super Bowl appearances.  

 The 49ers last Super Bowl win was in 1994. The Chiefs  last win was in 1970.

Huge Win On MNF For Seahawks

The Seahawks are in the hunt for a division title as they took down the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers 27-24 in overtime in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football.
  Josh Myers hit a game winning field goal with seconds remaining to give the Hawks the win.  It was after the 49ers kicker Chase McLaughlin missed a game winning field goal in the overtime.
It was perhaps the biggest upset of the year, as most observers saw the 49ers as a more well rounded team. The Seahawks remain on half game behind the 49ers for the division lead.

Sherman Will Play For Arch Rival 49ers

Seahawk fans haven't seen the last of Richard Sherman.  The all pro cornerback, who squashed the Super Bowl hopes of the 49ers with his tip of a pass to Michael Crabtree is now playing for that team.  Sherman signed a three year pact with San Francisco over weekend, which means he will play against the Seahawks twice each season. 

Seattle Sportsnet Laments "Death Of A Rivalry"

Trouble At The Bay!

Did anyone see this coming?  Word has gotten out that the San Francisco 49ers tried to trade their coach to the Cleveland Browns.  Coach Jim Harbaugh who most fans feel has lead the Niners back to the glory days, may see the end of his days at San Francisco.  While being known as a winner, Harbaugh is known for marching to his own drum.  That is not always good in businesses minded pro sports.  Owners and General Managers like to win, but they also like to be in control.  Word is that the relationship between the coach and the front office is souring fast.
Although the tight lipped usually scowling Harbaugh is universally loathed by Seahawk fans, there is no doubt the rivalry has been good for the 'Hawks and it's fans, it has become one of the best rivalries in Seattle sports history and although wins are nice, they are even sweeter when someone can wear the "black hat" like Coach Harbaugh.

Seahawks Are Going To The Super Bowl

The Seattle Seahawks are NFC champs and will be going to the Super Bowl to face the Denver Broncos on Febuary 2nd in New York.  The 'Hawks made a stunning comeback in the second half to beat the San Francisco 49ers 23-17.

Ann Wilson Singing National Anthem

For the second week in a row, a locally based national recording artist will be performing the National Anthem at Century Link Field.  Ann Wilson, lead singer of  the Roll Hall Of Fame group Heart, will sing the Star Spangled Banner when the 'Hawks host the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game this Sunday.

Seahawks To Face 49ers

This Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks will face the San Francisco 49ers for the third time of the season. The game will be in the Clink, but the stakes will be raised, the winner goes to the Super Bowl, the loser goes home.  The 2 teams play twice each year, but this will be the first time they have face one another in the conference championship.   The key is that the game is here and if there ever was a time when the 12th Man was needed it's NOW.

How To Be A Fan--49ers Style

Area talk radio is having a good laugh about a memo to San Francisco 49s season ticket holders released by the team.  The Seattle Seahawks head to the Bay Area for a rematch with their division arch-rivals Sunday. 
In last September's game, the Seattle fans came under fire for being cheering while the opposition was drawing up plays.  Apparently, 49er officials it's time for their fans to "pay us back."

Seahawks Embarrassed On The Road

The Seahawks suffered their second devasting loss in the Bay Area, losing to the San Francisco 49ers 40-21. Their first was the "chamber of horrors" that awaited the 'Hawks in a 33-3 loss on Halloween to the Oakland Raiders. A "garbage time" Seahawk touchdown was costly as Deon Butler broke his leg on the play. The Seahawks were already without Mike Williams and Ben Obomanu. Leon Washington scored on a 93 yard kick-off return for the Seahawks.

Seahawks Come Alive--Route the 49ers

The start was typical, Matt Hasselbeck threw an interception on the first play and the feeling was that it was going to be a long season. But after a first quarter and several minutes of the second with 11 total yards, the Seahawks transitioned into Carroll ball and beat the San Francisco 49ers. Hasselbeck completed 1o of his next 11 throws and the 'Hawks scored 31 unanswered points. Jordan Babineaux, cut by the team not long ago then re-signed, had a pass interception as did Marcus Trufant. Pete Carroll was active on the sideline yelling encouragement and congratulating players. It is just one game and there is a long way to go, but today, all Seahawks can enjoy a great victory.

The Pete Carroll Era Begins For The 'Hawks

Seattle Seahawks fans have gotten to love their coaches. New coach Pete Carroll may make that difficult if not impossible. After he left his successful tenure as head coach at USC, the Trojans were handed one of the sternest penalties ever given to a college team. This may be very much in evidence this year as the 'Hawks are go through what looks to be a rebuilding season. Even if the 'Hawks begin winning in a few seasons, fans may wonder if there are some "smoke and mirrors" behind this man whose credibility has come under challenge. Suffice it to say, for the first time in the team's history, the head coach does not start out with a clean slate. The Seahawks kick-off the 2010 season at 1:00, playing the San Francisco 49ers.

Seahawks Win 2nd In A Row

For the first time this season, the Seattle Seahawks avenged an early season loss to a conference opponent. They also celebrated their 2nd win in a row--a 20-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. It was sweet revenge as the Seahawk had lost an earlier game to the 'Niners 23-10. That of course was the game where Matt Hasselbeck was knocked out with cracked ribs.

Nightmare By The Bay--Seahawks Fall Short

While things were "rosy" this weekend for the Huskies, Cougars, and for the most part, the Mariners, things did not go well for the Seattle Seahawks. Lead by Frank Gore, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the 'Hawks 23-10. Gore had touchdown runs of 79 and 80 yards and amassed 207 yards overall. In addition, Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck went down late in the second quarter with a rib injury. Also lost to injury was tackle Sean Locklear.

Seahawks Pound San Francisco

When two teams having miserable seasons meet, someone has to win and the Seattle Seahawks were able to take advantage of the San Francisco 49ers' woes for a 34-13 victory. Josh Wilson ran his first career interception back 75 yards for a Seahawk touchdown late in the second quarter and Leonard Weaver had two touchdown receptions of 43 and 62 yards in the second half. The Seahawks take on the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday at Qwest Field.

Seahawks Fall To 0 And 2

The Seattle Seahawks showed that they could be as dysfunctional as any other Washington sports team after they blew a 14 point lead to the struggling San Francisco 49ers. The loss was at home and to a 49ers team lead by second string quarterback JT O'Sullivan who had over 300 yards passing against what has been billed as a strong Seahawk defense.

Seahawks Cut Ties With Darrell Jackson

Darrell Jackson has been traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a future 4th round draft choice. The talented but inconsistent Jackson has seen the 'Hawks go from perienial disappointment to Superbowl runner-up. Word has it that Jackson has been unhappy since the Seahawks acquired Deion Branch. The Seahawks acquired Branch, an ex Patriot at the beginning of last season. The Patriots just acquired Randy Moss. The Patriots can have Randy Moss.
