Short lived Seattle radio station KKMI is remembered on the Puget Sound Media blog. The adult contemporary station replaced what was new wave radio station KYYX.
The station featured the return to the air of Pat O'Day, who owned KYYX. The post features in article from the Tacoma News Tribune from June 19th, 1984.
The station had its studios in the Madison Park neighborhood of Seattle.

I believe it was the automation that killed KKMI. Voice-tracking sucks!
I think KYYX became live when they moved from the University building downtown to the Madison Park studio. Then when the station became KKMI, it continued to be live.
I use automation and voice-tracking interchangeably. I know that Ryan & Ryan were voice-tracked, probably others. O'Day should have known better. But $$$ I guess.

It got me into Seattle radio, so I'm happy for that. I certainly was not ready to do a live radio shift in Seattle.
