Lee Goldberg Nominated For Writing Award

There I go again, touting family members.  A big congratulations to Lee Goldberg, who just announced he has been nominated for the Sue Grafton Award  by the Mystery Writers Of America.

The award is part of the prestigious Edgar Awards for the best in mystery writing.

This is meaningful to Lee because he became a longtime friend to Grafton.  The two are pictured above.

This nomination is for Fallen Star, the latest work in the Eve Ronin mysteries.

Lee Goldberg's Novels Slated To Become TV Series

Lee Goldberg announced on his blog, that his character in his series of novels, Eve Ronin will be adapted into a TV series.

Madison Lintz (pictured above), a 26 year old actor with TV experience, will star in the leading role and be executive producer of the series.

Goldberg's Eve Ronin series depicts the youngest homicide detective on the LA County Sheriff's Department, who "tackles high-stakes cases while battling institutional resistance and her own personal demons."

Lee's Eve Ronin series of novels have all been page turners that I've really enjoyed.  Any book in the series can be ordered by clicking here.

Lee did not say in the article how much creative control he has in how the character will be presented.

Gated Prey Has Twists And Turns

Gated Prey is the third book in Lee Goldberg's Eve Ronin series.  It is a whodunnit about a series of crimes in a gated community in Calabasas.

Once again, Eve has to fight enemies on both sides.   As she actively persues the criminals, a gang of cops of outlaw cops is after her.  While guided by her  instincts and her desire to do right, and by a promotion that was based more on good PR for her department, than on her merit, she is pretty much despised by both her command and the rank and file.   Her saving grace is her soon to be retired partner, Duncan "Donuts" Pavone.

As this is the fourth book that I have read in this series, (I started with Movieland, Lee's latest) I found this to be a great installment to the series.  Great characters and a plot of many twists.

I would strongly recommend every book in this series.  You can get your copy of Gated Prey by clicking here.

Bone Canyon By Lee Goldberg--Review

There is a cost in taking on your own department.  The aftermath of a wildfire leads to the discovery of murdered women.  Detective Eve Ronin, already unpopular because of her early promotion to robbery-homicide finds out that she will have to take on her own department to get to the bottom of this case.  It is very suspenseful and definitely worth the read.

This is the second of the currently four Eve Ronin series books.  You can find it by clicking here.

Review: Lost Hills

Lost Hills is the first book in Lee Goldberg's Eve Ronin series.  Movieland was his latest and the first of that series that I read.  I was so blown away by Lee's latest, that I have decided to read the entire series.

Lost Hills does not disappoint, it's not so much of a "who done it" as much as a connecting the dots.  Goldberg does an excellent job of establishing the characters.   Eve Ronin is a detective for the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department.  She is caught on video in a single-handed arrest of a popular movie star.  Because the video went viral, the department, which is facing a public relations nightmare from an ongoing scandal, promotes her to robbery-homicide.  This is a coveted position in the department and her fellow cops believe she is well out of her league, but not her.

After a horrific crime, too grisly to mention, Eve becomes part of the investigation and tries to prove that she can play with the big boys and girls.

Just like Movieland, there is great imagery and character development.  You can find Lost Hills by clicking here.

Lee Goldberg Novel Movieland--Review

This is the fourth book in Lee Goldberg's Eve Ronin series but the first that I've read.  It has been so long since I had read a book that was so good that it was hard to put down, but this is definitely it.

Movieland is not about the Hollywood movie scene as much as it's about a series of shootings and murders in a popular Los Angeles area place known as Malibu Creek Park.  It had a history of having movie scenes shot (no pun intended) there, which is probably how the book got its title.

Eve Ronin is a young detective in the Los Angeles County Sherriff's office who is "married" to her job.  Her partner is a veteran cop named Duncan "Doughnuts" Pavone, who is weeks away from retirement.  Ronin has alienated herself from much of the force for uncovering a police scandal and that really comes into play in the book.

This book is an excellent "who done it" where anyone and everyone could be the culprit. There is great imagery and intrigue.

I started recommending this book before I even finished.  It is so good that I just ordered the first book of Goldberg's Eve Ronin series, Lost Hills.

Goldberg Movieland Novel Out

Lee Goldberg has announced his new work, Movieland is out.  On his latest blogpost, Goldberg said the book is fiction but based on a real series of murders in Malibu Creek Park., where residents and townspeople are not necessarily believing that the police have been totally forthcoming the facts.

This is part of Goldberg's Eve Ronin series of books. This will be the first of that series that I will read.

I'm looking forward to diving into this book for a good summer read.   You can order your copy by clicking here.
