Rapinoe Wins Sportsperson Of The Year

Local athlete Megan Rapinoe has been chosen Sports Illustrated's Sports Person Of The Year for 2019.  Rapinoe, a forward for the Reign FC and for the US Women's team that won the World Cup, has been an activist for equal pay for woman athletes.
She is only the 4th woman to win the honor unaccompanied in the 66 year history of the magazine.

Baseball Writer Autographs Book

 Baseball reporter and author Jay Jaffe was kind enough to autograph his latest book, The Case For Cooperston.  Jaffe's work has appeared in Sports Illustrated.  The book is available on Amazon. 
Back in Walla Walla, Jay's grandparents, Drs.Bernie and Clara were long time friends of our family.

Sports Illustrated Mariners Tribute Eddition

I don't know if it's a regional or a national release, but a special edition of Sports Illustrated pays tribute to the Seattle Mariners on the baseball club's 40 anniversary.  Many of the cast and characters of Mariners history are featured including Edgar Martinez, cover guy and Hall of Famer Ken Griffey,Jr, The Big Unit, Alex Rodriguez, whom I hear is dating Jennifer Lopez, and Felix.  Former Mariner broadcaster Ken Levine, also a renowned TV comedy writer, added a touching tribute to the heart and soul of the team, Dave Niehaus.

High Hopes For The Seahawks

Going into the 2013 season, the Seattle Seahawks are the sexy pick to win all the marbles. Title thirsty Seattle fans, who suffered through some let downs before, are cautiously optimistic.  Hoping that the Sports Illustrated cover jinx is really a myth, Russell Wilson adorns this week's cover.
