Mudcat Grant--A Baseball Star From My Childhood

Jim "Mudcat" Grant, who led the Minnesota Twins to it's first World Series is dead at 85.  In that year, 1965, Grant became the first African-American pitcher to win 20 games.  Grant would start 3 games in that series, winning two.  Years later, Grant was traded to the team that beat him in that series, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

As I'm from Cleveland, I should note that Grant also played for the soon-to-be-renamed Indians in the late'50s and early '60s, and, after he retired, announced Indians games in the 1970s.
