Our Stingray Encounter

This picture is sadly ironic. Our group was surrounded by stingrays in this shallow area off the coast of Grand Cayman. Would we be this brave had we known that Steve Irwin would die from a stingray attack just 3 days later? That's a hard call. Posted by Picasa

Quite brave wading amongst the sting rays. Tragic death of Steve Irwin got at least two days of coverage on CNN. Wonder if he would have even been mentioned if he hadn't been so popular on cable TV?

It was sad that he was killed by what most consider to be a mostly harmless creature. I assume the rays in that tank are de-barbed?

No, It was no tank, and they where not debarbed. It was in a shallow basin in the Caribbean. The guide showed us the correct way to handle them.
It was a little scary, espessially when my niece Alyssa was stung by a jellyfish the day before. We had no idea that one of them could take out the CH. Remember, noone stopped riding horses after Cris Reave's mishap.

Anyone notice that I'm the only geek with a shirt on?
