Virginia Takes Down Texas Tech And Net In NCAA Men's Basketball Final

In a thriller of a game,  the Virginia Cavaliers defeated Texas Tech 85-77 to take the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.  It was the first title for Virginia lead by Tony Bennett, the last coach to take WSU to the tournament.

No Joy In Cougarville--Tony Bennett Headed To VA.


Coach Tony Bennett who lead the Washington State Cougar Basketball team to the NCAA Tournament twice, has left for Virginia. Bennett, national coach of the year turned down two major coaching jobs last year to stay in Pullman. This year he is leaving after a less glamorous season. The Cougs exited in the first round of the NIT Tournament.
Before Tony Bennett had become head coach, the basketball program was barely on the "radar screen" . He will be hard to replace.

The Year In Review III: March-- One Bennett Stays


While it became clear that Seattle Super Sonic Clay Bennett had no intention of keeping the his team in town, WSU's Tony Bennett was denying rumors that he was eying other coaching positions around the country, he had, after all, made history by guiding the Cougs to their second straight NCAA tournament appearance. While Clay and the Sonics are "gone with the wind", Tony Bennett is still in Pullman.

Rumours Swirl On Possible Bennett Departurne

It's no secret that Washington State's coach Tony Bennett, who helped take the Cougs from obscurity to a second straight NCAA apearence would be a hot coaching prospect. Now Fox Sports is reporting that Bennett has been offered the head coaching position at Indiana. Hopefully we can get more details in the coming days.

Coach Tony Bennett Makes History At WSU


For the first time in School history , the WSU Cougars have made the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in consecutive seasons. The Cougs, lead by Coach Tony Bennett, are seeded 4th in the East Region and will play Winthrop in Denver this Thursday. This is Cougar's 6th overall apearance.

Cougars B-Ballers Beat Boise State Broncos


WSU Cougar fans tired of the mediocrity of this year's football team will be glad to know the college basketball season is now underway. Last night the Cougs overcame a 32-26 deficit to defeat the Boise State Broncos 86-74. According to the Seattle Times, the Cougars are currently ranked 9th in the country. This is WSU's second year under coach Tony Bennett.

Tony Bennett To Stay In Pullman

It appears that Tony Bennett will be returning as Cougar Men's Basketball coach as ESPN reports the rookie head coach has inked a 7 year deal with the Pullman School. Bennett has just finished his first year after succeeding his father, Dick, leading the Cougs to their first NCAA Post SeasonTournament appearance in over 10 years.

Cougars Dream Season

The Washington State Cougars are ranked 9th in the nation, higher then they have been ranked before. The Cougs, who are guided by first year coach Tony Bennett (pictured above) were picked to finish last in the Pac 10. The experts were sure wrong on that one.
Tonight the Cougars will take on the Oregon Ducks in Eugene.
