My brother, Steve enjoyed pretty long stint as a hockey player as a youth. He started before starting school. Since my sports career was mostly being a fan, I was impressed. He was interviewed in this column in the local paper.

Steve Barer's Volunteer Work Lauded
My brother Steve was recently awarded the Blue Mountain Humane Society's "Volunteer Of The Year" award. His work with helping socialize dogs to prepare them for adoption was featured in this article in the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin. The humane society is one of Walla Walla's most well known non profits so this is a towering achievement.

My Brother Steve Gets His 15 Minutes
Steve and Dawn went to a Boxing match at the Emerald Queen Casino and were able to get on TV, according to this youtube clip off his blog. You can click here to see it, don't blink.
It brought back fond memories of when Deb and I went to the Space Needle for New Year's Eve and managed to get on camera.

An old schoolmate of mine bought the house and remodeled it.

Walla Walla To Get Luxury Condos Over Former Scrap Yard
Over in Walla Walla, Washington, the Corner of North 4th Street And Sumac, once scale and Junk yard for B. Barer And Sons will soon be transformed, according to my brother Steve. For decades, the fenced enclosure had little but rotting truck bodies and high weeds. Now Windemere is developing an upscale living development. The name of the project is Vue 22. You may say that the yard has gone from scale to upscale!
