Just as humble and lovable as ever, Maple Valley's Brandi Carlile, now a 6 time Grammy winner, made an appearance on The Today Show. She also performed a few songs, of course, knocking it out of the park.

Brandi Carlile To Miss Stagecoach Appearance Due To Covid
Maple Valley's Brandi Carlile announced on her Instagram feed that she will miss the Country Music Festival Stagecoach. She said that it "finally happened" meaning that like most of us, she has been able to avoid it, she said that she has "the Covid". She said that she is devastated about missing her appearance.
Stagecoach, as I understand it, is the Country version of Coachella. Like Coachella, it convenes at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio.

It's almost Grammy Awards time and once again, our local superstar, Brandi Carlile was not left out. Carlile received 3 nominations for her behind the scenes work with country music icon Tanya Tucker. The Grammy Awards ceremony will be January 26th of 2020.
Carlile was nominated for Song Of The Year for the second time in a row for writing "Bring My Flowers Now" on Tuckers "While I'm Living" album. The song was also nominated for Country Song Of The Year. Tucker's album was also nominated for Country Album Of The Year. Brandi and Shooter Jennings were co-producers of the album and would receive Grammy Trophies if it wins.
If this keeps up, perhaps Maple Valley will be known as "Grammy Town".

This past week, Brandi Carlile performed songs from Joni Mitchell's iconic "Blue" album to a crowd in LA's Disney Hall. In attendance was Carlile's childhood idol Elton John and Michell herself.

Dave Grohl & Brandi Carlile - Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington (4-...
I was in Bellevue when Brandi Carlile posted a picture with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and formerly of Nirvana. They spoke of going to the Pike Place Market to do an impromptu concert.
There were thousands of comments from all over the world, saying they wish they lived in Seattle and could see it.
Hats off to these two local music legends for making it happen.

Carlile Wins 3 Grammys And Audience Heart
Maple Valley's Brandi Carlile won 3 Grammys in categories presented before the national telecast of the awards last night and delivered, once again, a stirring performance of "The Joke" her anthem of hope to society's marginalized.
Carlile's performance, perhaps in front of her largest audience ever, rocked the auditorium and lit up Twitter.
Carlile had been nominated in 6 categories, her wins were for Best Americana Album, best American Roots song, and best American roots performance. Her losses were in Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Album Of The Year. Her nominations alone in those categories were a major victory in her long career.
Carlile had just one nomination previous to this year's ceremony. This was her first Grammy performance.

Leonard Cohen Dies
Singer songwriter Leonard Cohen has died at 82. Cohen was a native of Canada. Like Bob Dylan, he is better known for his songwriting than singing, unlike Bob Dylan, he kept his Jewish sounding last name.
Probably, Cohen's best known song is Hallelujah, a song which Maple Valley area singer Brandi Carlile closes her shows. His other well known hit "Suzanne" was made popular by Seattle native Judy Collins.

Maple Valley Native Brandi Carlile Honored at Pocket Park
The pocket park at Wilderness Village is complete and it has a distinct honor for Grammy nominated singer Brandi Carlile. Carlile's foundation contributed $5 thousand dollars to the completion of the park and the small stage bears her name.
The tiny park, is located between the QFC and Starbucks in Wilderness Village, in an area that recently had been littered with dumpsters and shopping carts. Part of the park was financed by a "kickstarter" campaign.

Homegrown Brandi Carlile Dazzles Benaroya Hall

Brandi Carlile, who grew up in Ravensdale , near Maple Valley, performed last night with the Seattle Symphony to a screaming, toe tapping, hand clapping audience.
Starting with only her band, Carlile began with probable her best known song "What Can I Say" pointing the microphone to the crowd who was singing the chorus along with her.
Many of Carlile's song are somewhat dark, lending themselves well to the strings in the orchestra. She spoke fondly of the venue, Benaroya Hall saying that she frequently drove past the place in her youth, only dreaming of playing there.
Her ablility to engage the crowd was reminiscent of another home grown band "Heart". Brandi announced that she was making a live album with last night's performance included.
