Great post Mike. It is absolutely electric it was to hear a stadium full of football fans giving a massive "Holy Smokes!" welcome to a baseball icon. Since Rick just wrapped up an incredible 41-season career broadcasting for the Seattle Mariners and announced his retirement, this was the perfect cross-sport tribute. It showed how much the entire city of Seattle respects and loves him, stretching far beyond the baseball diamond. How beautiful it is when the Seahawks and Mariners worlds collide. Having the "Voice of Summer" kick off a huge autumn Seahawks game against a division rival truly united Pacific Northwest sports culture. Rick spent decades partnering with Dave Niehaus, and next year he will join Dave in the team's Hall of Fame. Raising the 12 Flag is an honor reserved for true local royalty, and seeing him up on that platform solidified his status as an absolute Seattle legend.
