Reunion 5--The Mixer

I'm 4th from the left in this picture from the mixer on Friday (July 31st, 2026).  It was held at Hop Thief, a brewpub in College Place.

Great post Mike highlighting this landmark business in College Place. For over a century, College Place was shaped heavily by the traditions of Walla Walla University and its Seventh-day Adventist heritage. To be the first-ever bar in a city with such a deeply entrenched dry history is an incredible feat that will forever mark the evolution of the Walla Walla Valley. The arrival of a brewpub marks a beautiful expansion of what this community looks like offering a brand-new space for neighbors of all walks of life to gather, connect, and unwind. What makes this place so remarkable isn’t just the beer on tap; it’s the milestone it represents. It honors the city's deeply rooted history while gently turning the page toward a more inclusive, diverse community hub. This establishment bridges a fascinating historical gap, proving that a modern town can celebrate its faith-based roots while still making room for local craft culture and vibrant nightlife. For generations, the cultural footprint of the Adventist church meant you had to leave town limits for a drink. This venue represents a monumental shift in the local landscape, a true cultural milestone for College Place.
