Root Sports Ends After 2025 Baseball Season

Root Sports, a channel and station that has carried Mariners and a handful of other teams is going away after this season according to Media Maven, a local broadcasting blog.

The Seattle Times reports that MLB will take over production of regular season Mariner games for 2026 and beyond on a yet unnamed channel.

On-camera crew, such as Brad Adam and Angie Mentink (pictured above) are expected to transfer to the new network. However, production crew and advertising sales people are not expected stay on   The network has been headquartered in the Eastgate section of Bellevue. Announcers like Aaron Goldsmith and Rick Rizzs are employed by the team.

Sorry to see Root Sports go. It played an important role in our region's sports and media scene by bringing Mariners and sports broadcasts into the homes of many Northwest residents. It will be missed.

I hope they keep Aaron Goldsmith.

Aaron works for the Mariners. The word is that no changes will be made to the team's broadcast crew.
