RIP Former Seattle News Anchor Aaron Brown

I was saddened to read this morning (December 31st, 2024) of passing of Aaron Brown.  Brown, was anchor at KING 5, when I first came to Seattle in the 1980s.  He had a very professorial style of delivering the news, a kind of intellectual undersell.

He would later anchor at KIRO 7, while at KIRO, Linda Cohn was sports anchor, which was significant because both would go on to national prominence. Cohn with ESPN, where she still reports, while Brown became a reporter and anchor at ABC, then CNN.

At CNN, he was anchor during the 9/11 attacks,   making him a familiar face in the nation's living rooms.

Brown would eventually leave broadcasting for teaching.  He was a professor at the Walter Cronkite School Of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University.

Brown was 76. No cause of death has been given.
