The Seattle Times reports that the July death of Greg Moore, whe was jogging near Maple Valley, may not have been an accident, but rather the results of an attempt to "scare and bump" the man.
A 15 year old, who turned herself in last week, is charged with felony murder and hit and run.

When you jog down the street in the early a.m. or any other time you are tempting fate. When you do this on a regular basis instead of running on a track or hiking trail your judgment and intent should be called into question. People have a false sense of security and assume that other people have the same mindset as them. At some point you need to exercise some common sense in your actions.
First off whoever (anonymous) is from the above comment....Shame on you! No one deserves to die the way this man did.
I can't imagine the pain this family has gone through and now a 15 year old has a murder charge against her for doing something incredibly stupid and senseless. Her life will never be the same either. Was it worth it...I think not.
I did not say he deserved it. I said he exercised poor judgment running down the side of the road regularly in the a.m. when he should be doing that in a safer location.
I don't know what is going on in the girl's head to do such a horrific thing and whether or not she can be rehabilitated or mature from a phase. I think that on top of her punishment, she should never own or drive a motor vehicle (not even a motorcycle) for the rest of her life.

Let’s remember, pedestrians have the right of way. Just like with those annoying groups of bicyclists. You avoid them. Not play scare tactic games. A car is not a toy.

This is a ridiculous comment. The girl was playing a scare and bump. The girl meant to hit him. Your disrespectful comment is hurtful to the family. Have a little respect for goodness sake.
While the comment about tempting fate may seem callous, it is a legitimate point. I've almost accidentally hit people walking or running on the side of the road because they are in dark clothing at night or on corner.
My 11 year old daughter brought this situation to my attention. I explained to both of my kids that this is a terrible tragedy and at the same time, I used it to teach them to think about their own safety when they choose to do anything in life.
While we all know that pedestrians have the right of way, it is wise if you are the pedestrian to accept the reality that a vehicle is bigger than you and if it hits you whether intentional or not, you will be the one who suffers. I teach my kids this all the time. "If you get in a fight with a vehicle, the vehicle will always win."
I believe the intent of the comment is from a good hearted place to use this tragic event as an example to "exercise" more caution if you choose to be the pedestrian.
I also believe what happened to Greg is horrible. We should be able to run on the any street without fear of being intentionally or accidentally hit by a vehicle. But what "should be" and what is are often very different.
I get angry at stories like this, too. How do we turn that anger into something positive?
It's not a ridiculous comment. No one said it's right or just for this girl to have done what she did and it could have been a deer or another animal. If it was a deer she could have died. I run, I am tempted to run on the road because they shut some of the tracks down and trials in the woods unfortunately have some people illegally camping (homeless) and it's not safe to run alone there, but running on the side of the road with no side walk is very dangerous not everyone sees well even if their not "hit and bump" and I hate it when I see people doing that. Some distracted texting and driving person, someone swerves to avoid something else and there's not enough room or time to react. Don't run on the side of the road - it's dangerous. This girl is a dummy and had a lot of issues but you risk your life if you're running on the side of the road with no curb or side walk. He didn't deserve it but it's not safe.
