Emma Peel by The Allies
Seattle group "The Allies" were a dance club favorite in the early to mid 80s. At the time, music was driven by videos clips on MTV, a cable channel marketed to teen-age to young adult music scene. In it's early days, MTV mostly only showed music videos, run like a top-40 radio station. It had a show called MTV Basement Tapes. The concept was for unknown bands to submit tapes for air in hopes of being the "next big thing", much like American Idol is today. Seattle band Rail was the first winner.
This video was entered into a subsequent Basement Tapes competition and although it did not win, it did finish well. The Allies would later break up without achieving the national fame they had sought.
