Ex Seahawk Star Glascow Dies

Nesby Glasgow, who played defensive back for the Seattle Seahawks, has died after fighting cancer. Glasgow played for the 'Hawks from 1988-92.

I remember watching a Seahawk exhibition game at the Kingdome where Glasgow blocked a field goal and ran it back for a touchdown.  I met him later that year at an autograph appearance at the Factoria Mall. Barers Of Maple Valley sends it's condolences. 

Paul Allen Honored

Although it's hard to see it in this picture, the 12 Man Flag flew at half staff today to honor the late owner of the Seahawks Paul Allen.  In the first home game in weeks, the Seahawks lost to the LA Chargers 25-17.    
Chargers quarterback Phil Rivers seemed impervious to the loud crowd at Century Link Field.  Russell Wilson threw a costly interception that was run back for a touchdown that proved to be the difference in the game.
Allen was also honored with an insignia PGA 12 on the field.

Seahawks At The Colosseum

When I started watching sports, this was one of the nation's premier sports venues.  Now, its the temporary home for the recently returned LA Rams. 
The Seahawks are playing the Rams there this weekend.

Season Over For Seahawks

Seattle's season ended last night with a 36-20 defeat on the road to the Atlanta Falcons.  In a season where the balls didn't seem to bounce our way,  the 'Hawks won enough games to win it's division but never really seemed destined for this year's Super Bowl.  Injuries and player dissension seemed to hamper the season.  A high ankle sprain hampered Russell Wilson early in the year.  Earl Thomas was lost to a broken leg in the late season.  Richard Sherman seemed unmanageable.
The Seahawks started out with a bang in yesterday's game, scoring on the games first drive.  The momentum shifted when an 80 long punt return by Devin Hester was wiped out by a penalty.  This resulted in an eventual safety.  This put the Hawks in an insurmountable deficit on the road against the Falcon's.  The Falcon's have the league's most explosive offense.
Just like last year the Seahawks, the Hawks are out on the second round,  We'll hope for better results next season.

Tight End Jimmy Graham Traded To Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have acquired Tight End Jimmy Graham from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for Center Max Unger and a 2015 first round draft pick.  The trade gives the 'Hawks a real pass threat, Graham has had 46 touchdowns since 2011, third behind Marshawn Lynch and Dez Bryant.

A sports writer named Ed Sherman has made a name for himself slamming running back Marshawn Lynch and what has become a huge side show.  Sherman is calling for a boycott on Skittles.  Never mind that Lynch is giving reporters more meat to chew on than they would have had otherwise.  Today, Sherman is all over Twitter, excited that his name was brought up on The View.  I say we Hawk fans should support Lynch and buy more Skittles!  Buy as many bags as you possibly can and fill the bowls at all Super Bowl parties with them.  Let's do even better.  Everyone who reads this should send Ed Sherman 12 bags of Skittles!

Seahawks Tackle Walter Jones Elected To Hall

On the eve of the Seattle Seahawks second appearance in a Super Bowl, the man who gets a great deal of credit for the team's first has received good news.  It was announced today that 'Hawk left tackle Walter Jones was selected to enter the Pro Football Hall Of Fame.  Jones, who retired in 2009, is widely regarded as one of the best that the game has seen.  He is third player to enter the Hall that has played his entire career in Seattle.  The other two are Steve Largent and Cortez Kennedy.   Other Seahawks in the Hall include Warren Moon, Carl Eller, and Mike McCormack.

Home Cookin' No Longer Seahawks Edge

The Seattle Seahawks were soundly for the second home game in a row as they lost 42-24 to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were bolstered by Quarterback Matt Cassell, who threw a career high 4 touchdown passes. Seahawk QB Matt Hasselbeck threw for 282 yards and had two touchdown passes, but also had two interceptions and a costly fumble.

Seahawks Bucked By Broncos

The Seattle Seahawks failed to show well on the road, losing to the Denver Broncos 31-14. While the Hawks were able to turn the game around last week against the 49ers, a comeback was impossible after going down by two touchdowns in tough InvescoField. The red zone could almost be called the "Matt Hasselbeck interception zone" as two early Seahawk scoring threats were snuffed out by interceptions. The 91 degrees at game time was the warmest temperature in Denver Bronco opening day history. Golden Tate, making his Seattle debut, Returning a punt 63 yards and a pass reception of 52.

Packers Maul Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks took a few steps down the staircase in a 48-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. It was the third loss in a row in a game that was too reminiscent of the Hawks in the Ken Behring era. Fading Matt Hasselbeck threw 4 interceptions, two snuffing out potential touchdown drives as the 'Hawks showed streaks of promise in the first half. For the third week in a row John Carlson scored Seattle's only touchdown. The win sent the Green Bay Packers to the play-offs, and the Seahawks back to the "drawing board" in Seattle.

Seahawks Lose In Minnesota

After a scoreless first quarter, it didn't take long to see which team is play-off bound as the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Seattle Seahawks 35-9. There were times when it looked like the Vikes did not have an opponent as ageless quarterback Brett Favre was able to move the ball practically at will, throwing four touchdown passes to four different Viking receivers. The Seahawks did not even get past midfield until late in the third quarter.

Seahawks Kick Off Mora Era With Victory

The Seattle Seahawks executed well on both offense and defense today and beat the St.Louis Rams 28-0. Matt Hasselbeck, in his first game since Thanksgiving last year passed for 276 and three touchdowns. He did throw away a couple of scoring opportunities with interceptions in the early going. Julius Jones had a 119 rushing yards including a 62 yard touchdown run. Second year Seahawk Phenom John Carlson caught 2 touchdown passes.

Dawn Of A New Era

Jim Mora makes his Seahawk debut at 1:15 at Qwest Field as the Seattle Seahawks take on the StLouis Rams. After appearing in the playoffs five consecutive seasons under former coach Mike Holmgren, the Seahawks finished a disappointing 4-12 last year.

Seahawk Josh Wilson Honored

Seattle Seahawks defensive back Josh Wilson has been chosen as Defensive Player Of The Week for the NFC for his role in last Sunday's victory over the Jets.

Seahawks Beat Rams

The Seattle Seahawks turned it on in the second half and beat the St.Louis Rams 23-20. In the second quarter, the 'Hawks looked as listless as ever, failing several times to make third down stops. After half time though, the Seahawks were finally able to move the ball, setting a game winning field goal by Olindo Mare in the closing seconds of the game. It was the first Seahawk victory since October 27th in this nightmare of a football season.

Seahawks Lose Again

The nightmare that is the 2008 season for the Seattle Seahawks continues in a 20-10 defeat. A touchdown in the last 2 minutes of the game on a pass from Seneca Wallace to John Carlson made the final score score at least look respective, but there was nothing to indicate the 'Hawks fortunes would change in the next few weeks.

Seahawks Finally Get Victory

The Seattle Seahawks were able to capitalize on a hapless StLouis Ram team and beat them 37-13. Julius Jones had 140 yards for the 'Hawks and TJ Duckett had his first two touchdown game in four years. Rookie wide receiver Michael Bumpus got his first career touchdown on a 10 yard pass from Matt Hasselbeck The Seahawks go into the bye week 1-2 and have a chance to get Bobby Engram and some other players heathy before the next game in 2 weeks.
