Vikes Land Seahawk Star Hutchinson

Right Guard Steve Hutchinson will be fitted with Horns for the 2006 season as the Seahawks will not match an offer made to him from the Minnesota Vikings. It was the ability to land players like Hutch that built the 'Hawks into a Super Bowl team and we would be all for this if the situation was reversed. Posted by Picasa

With a tear in his eye, Hutch will bid a fond farewell to the Space Needle, Pioneer Square and Mt. Rainier. Of course the $49 million Vikes owner Ziggi Wulf will deposit in his bank account will ease the pain of leaving the Puget Sound. You can buy a lot of bug spray and anti-freeze with $49 million. This is unprecdented that the Vikes would be shelling out this staggering sum for one player, but with new owner Ziggi, who has fired all the bums who had mis-managed the team, anything is possible. The former owner, Red Mc?, is selling used cars in Texas.

Hutch may run into Dan Monson at the airport who might be headed for Spokane where he coached at Gonzaga U but will be fired by the University of Minnesota soon. (See Star Tribune:)

Dan Monson revived the Gophers men’s basketball program after it was decimated by an academic scandal, but attracting the top in-state recruits and winning in the Big Ten proved more difficult.

I remember Don Monson coached the Pasco Bulldogs when they dominated our corner of the state.

I think about what would happen if we had free agency in the old days. Can you picture the New York Yankees with Ted Williams, Ty Cobb, and Rogers Hornsby?

News of the firing of Gopher basketball coach Dan Monson (formerly of Gonzaga U) was premature. He is their man indifinitely until they decide to fire him next season or sooner. (Since he is from Spokane I figured there would be interest in him on your blog).
