Ariela Barer on Filming The Last of Us with Pedro Pascal & Her Fear of S...

Is she related?  I've heard yes and no.
Ariela was a guest last night (June 26th,2025) on Jimmy Kimmel, with substitute host Diego Luna.
We pronounce our last name differently, she pronounces it B'rare, while our family pronounces it Bear-er.
Nonetheless, much of my extended family has excelled in the arts.  Since I'm Facebook friends with her father, Sergio, who is also a member of the Barer Family Group, I have even more reason to for root her, and her sister, Libe, also an actor.

Michael Easton

I was sorry to read about the passing of Michael Easton, 77.

He was the blogger of Puget Sound Radio.  Michael lived in Canada but wrote about radio across the Pacific Northwest.

He picked up a story that I did on Walla Walla DJ "Rockin Cochran".  I could not find it in the archives of his blog, but I linked the original post that was on mine.

He had a lengthy career in radio and TV in Canada.  Michael and I had been Facebook friends for well over a decade.

Diego Segui Dies--Threw First Pitch For Both Seattle MLB Teams

Diego Segui may not be a familiar name to many Mariner fans, but he holds a very historical distinction in Seattle Major League Baseball history.  He threw the first pitch for the Seattle Pilots, who would leave town after the first season in 1969 to become the Milwaukee Brewers, and would also throw the first pitch for the Seattle Mariners in 1977.

Also, his son, David played for the Mariners in later years.

Segui died yesterday (Tuesday, June 24th, 2025) at 87.

Bobby Sherman--Teen Idol

Bobby Sherman, who starred in the ABC show Here Comes The Brides, and became a teen-idol, has died.  He had cancer.

Sherman also had a singing career, almost a prerequisite for holding the "idol" position at the time, with four top ten hits.

In later years, Sherman left the Hollywood scene to work as an EMT, helping to save lives.  A move that undoubtedly helped endear him to baby boomers who followed his career.

Seaside 12--Riding The Train

I captured this video on the Train ride back to Garibaldi from Rockaway Beach.

The train is part of the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad.

We then stopped at the nearby Tillamook Creamery for dinner.

Seaside 10--Steam Engine Train

We took a long drive to Garibaldi, Oregon to ride a train along the Oregon Coast to Rockaway Beach

Jeff O'Day

The following was copied from my tribute to Jeff on The Original KYYX Facebook group

Sad about the passing of Jeff O'Day Jeff, one of KYYX founder, Pat O'Day's three radio savvy sons, worked the production at KYYX/KXA during my time there.
He had his hand in many businesses and concerns yet always seemed to have a great time.
My last contact with him was only a month or so ago, when I expressed sympathy on the passing of his mother, Joni O'Day. He Direct messaged me back thanking me.
Please keep his brothers Jerry and Garry as well as Jeff's children, extended family, and friends in your thoughts.

Cal Raleigh On Fire

Cal Raleigh hit his 31st home run today in a 14-6 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

With mid season coming up, Raleigh has set records.  Raleigh now owns the record for most home runs by a switch hitter by the All-Star break, passing even the great Mickey Mantle, and most by the All Star break by a primary catcher (meaning he plays the position regularly).

Because of Raleigh's heroics, the Mariners took a series from the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field and remain in the conversation for the post-season.

Seaside 8--A Whale Off The Coast

We went to Tillamook Head, to what we call, Surfer Beach, although we don't know the official name.
We spotted what looked like a whale blowing  water not far from the shore

Loretta Swit--Margaret On MASH

Loretta Swit, who played Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlahan on the classic TV show MASH, passed away last week at 87.  Swit, was nominated for an Emmy 10 times, winning twice.

Swit's character, Margaret, was one of the first in TV history to evolve.   She started as a bossy, unsympathet, sexpot character and turned out to be a lonely, but valuable asset to the mission and a symbol for hard working women.

Swit and Alan Alda were the only actors to stay with the show through the entire run.

DC 26--Archie Bunker Chair

Archie Bunker became, probably, TV's most iconic character sitting in the chair on the right. In the show, All In The Family, nobody else was allowed to sit in his chair
We saw the chair at the Smithsonian Museum of American History.  Edith's chair is to the left and there is a cigar butt in the ashtray.
