Los Angeles, strangely without an NFL team for 21 years, now has it's second. The Chargers team has announced it's relocating to LA, the place of it's birth leaving the San Diego fans with nothing.
The Los Angeles Chargers were a charter member of the AFL in 1960, but moved to San Diego the following season. The fans got to know Lance Alworth, known as Bambi, and WSU alum Keith Lincoln, the moose of the Palouse. Coach Don Coryell brought a passing attack known as "Air Coryell." According to the Seattle Times, the team won the AFL championship in 1963, giving the city it's only major title. Those were the days before the Super Bowl. The San Diego Chargers would later play in the Super Bowl in 1995. losing to the San Francisco 49ers.

Cougar Fans Saddened By Leaf Trevails
Once upon a time, the idea of the Washington State Cougars playing in the Rose Bowl was thought to be a fairy tale, then came Ryan Leaf. In 1997, the junior quarterback from Montana, showed presense in the pocket, a strong arm, and a cocky attitude. He lead his team to the Pac 10 championship for the first time in over 30 years. He was considered a can't miss pro prospect, then the bubble burst.
The San Diego Chargers, gave up the house to have drafting rights to Leaf. He hit a snag in his rookie season and made ESPN highlight reels with a nasty exchange with reporters. His struggles culminated with his arrest a couple of years ago for burglary.
Recently though, reports came out about a new Ryan Leaf, who was working to fight against his addictions. He survived a brain tumor and wrote a book, the world seemed ready to forgive Ryan and visa versa. But a couple of days ago, the Leaf saga took a turn for the worst, as he was once again arrested for burglary, has Ryan Leaf fooled us again, or is this just another bump on the road to his recovery. Leaf was arrested again today for burglary in attempt to steal prescription drugs. Prosecutors had already moved to revoke his probation.

Seahawks Shock The Chargers At Qwest
A strong opening in the first half and a big play at the right time in the second half helped the Seattle Seahawks defeat the San Diego Chargers 27-20 at Qwest Field. Seattle's lead was 10-0 at the start of the second half, when Leon Washington increased the lead by taking the kick-off 101 yards for a touchdown that gave the Seahawks a seemingly insurmountable lead of 17-0. San Diego quarterback Phillip Rivers lead a comeback that eventually tied the game. Rivers completed four consecutive passes to the end zone as penalties called back both a touchdown and two point conversion, only to have them completed on the second try. With the Chargers clearly in the driver's seat, Leon Washington took the next kick off 99 yards for a touchdown. San Diego threatened again, but the 'Hawks secondary was able to keep them out of the end zone for four downs. Taking over on downs, Seattle could not score and had to punt. Rivers lead the Chargers again deep into Seahawk territory when Seahawk safety Earl Thomas made his second interception to seal the victory.Monday, August 25, 2008
Chargers Edge Seahawks

Deb and I watched the third Seahawk exhibition game at The Joker. The Joker is a Beer Joint (or Sportsbar as they're now called) on the Sammamish Plateau. It was an exciting game but the Chargers beat the 'Hawks by one point.
