Elk Run Golf Course Turning Into Farm

The Maple Valley-Covington Reporter reports that Elk Run Golf Course, once one of the finest in the area will soon give way to a farm set up to feed low income residents.  Elk Run Farm is a project of the South King County Food Coalition.
In the '90s and early 2000s. a golf boom, probably partly inspired by Tiger Woods, swept the nations. Tee times were hard to come by.  As a result, it seems that developers over built.  As years have gone by, the sport has proven to some to be spendy and time consuming.  Elk Run was amongst many golf course casualties in the area.  Principally because the first nine holes were sold in the Donut Hole purchase. That of course had nothing to do with baked goods, but a purchase of unincorporated property formerly owned by the county, slated to become a housing development and new high school.
