Lou Piniella To Manage The Chicago Cubs

For the 3rd straight time, Lou Piniella will be managing a last place team as the Chicago Cubs have hired the veteran manager. Piniella, who helped transformed the Mariners from one of the worst franchises in professional sports into a solid winning club, had considerably less success with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in his home town. Piniella signed a 3 years deal with the Cubs who have not been to a world series since 1945 and have not won one since 1908. The Cubs have however consistantly outdrawn their crosstown counterparts, the White Sox, even in years when the Sox had a better record. Their aging stadium, Wrigley Field, is a popular Chicago tourist attraction.
