Our friends, the Scolas, got to see their daughter Lindsay on National TV last week when President Obama delivered his farewell address. Lindsay, who worked in the Obama administration during his first term, is in the black top on the president's left.

Obama Farewell Speech Inspiring
Obama spoke last night in one of the most moving speeches that I have ever heard. I only heard the last 15 minutes on KIRO 97.3 radio on the drive from work, but I heard him outline his vision of America, his awe of his job, and his love for his family. He spoke kindly of his VP Joe Biden and thanked his supporters. He spoke in the words of an American citizen, but in his unique tone, calling for all to participate in the democracy. The speech was delivered in Chicago.

Giuliani's Remarks--Blown Out Of Proportion
Up until the last few days, Mayor Rudy Giuliani was well off the national radar. A political speech supportive of any Potential presidential candidate by him would barely make the front page of the paper of the city where it occurred. Giuliani is the former New York prosecutor, known for being tough on crime, who would go on to become one of the country's most famous mayors. he was also known as a moderate on many social issues.
Giuliani is back in the news, only because he crossed a line. At a private fund raiser for Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin, he accused President Obama of not loving America. We have always heard Republicans accusing Democrats of hating America, cops, servicemen, and the like, just because our views do not match the views that they have and that we tend to sometimes see both sides of a certain issue. We also may have extremists who flat out don't love the country. They don't reflect my views, though.
Guiliani's rant was re tweeted and re posted all over social media by progressives who were in an uproar, may not so much by the content, but who said it, perhaps we saw Giuliani as one of the wiser heads in the Republican Party. I was amazed that Rudy included President Clinton along with Reagan as more patriotic Presidents. Clinton endured much of the same criticism that Rudy pointed at Obama when he was in office.
My feeling is that the speech should be seen for what it is,a partisan speech to back a political candidate by a figure who has little relevance in today's political sphere.

Local Man's Presidential I-Pad Autograph May Be First
Sylvester Cann, with whom I worked with on the Dean Willard campaign, has garnered national attention. Sylvester attended a rally at the University Of Washington featuring President Obama. When Obama went into the crowd, Cann asked the president to sign his IPad, it may be the first IPAD autograph of a president.

Cabinet Position For Governor Locke?

A variety of sources have reported that former Washington Governor Gary Locke, seen here with his wife Mona and myself ,likely be President Obama's 3rd choice to be Secretary Of Commerce. Obama's first choice for the position, Governor Bill Richardson, quit because of a federal investigation. His second choice, Judson Gregg, found that he had irreconcilable differences with the administration and also resigned. Locke would be the second well known Washington official to be named to work in the administration. County Executive Ron Sims has been named to be Deputy HUD Secretary
