Scmoozing On Election Night

In this picture in the Issaquah Press, I (second from left) can be seen celebrating at the victory party for city council candidates in that town.  The party was held at the Issaquah Brewhouse and included candidates Bill Ramos, Paul Winterstein, and Jennifer Sutton.  Also in attendance were Issaquah Mayor Fred Butler, former Issaquah Mayor Ava Frissinger, Councilman Tola Marts, and 2014 legislative candidate Essie Hicks.

Dwight Pelz Visits 5th District Democrats

Washington State Democratic Chair Dwight Pelz spoke to the 5th Democrats last night at the
King County Library Service Center. While he was warmly received, the meeting could probably not be called a "lovefest" as he was peppered with questions as from concerned fellow Democrats on topics such as Washington's "Top Two" Primary, support for 5th District Candidates, holding Democratic elected officials to the platform and support for Democratic non-partisan candidates.
Pelz also questioned each of the attendees on how they felt about the health care issue. The room seemed evenly split between the cautious "Public Option" and the bolder "Single Payer" coverage. Pelz also mentioned that Democrats encompassed the fastest growing segments of the population, while Republicans compressed shrinking demographics. After the meeting Pelz joined thirsty 5th District members at the Issaquah Brewhous.

Issaquah Brewhouse Comes Through

Last night, a vicious windstorm temporarily wiped out power for the Maple Valley area. The outage included our house. Deb and I stopped at the Issaquah Brew house, on the way back from where we work in Bellevue. Issaquah Brew house is one of the area's best kept secrets. It is located off the main drag, (Front Street) near adjacent to the Salmon Hatchery.
It not only contains a full menu of ales, but the service was excellent, even after we had our menus, the food server wiped off our table, a small thing, but I had never noticed it in any other establishment. If addition, she put the ballgame on TV when I requested it. The food prices were extremely reasonable and the food was delicious.
