Jahmyr Gibbs Touchdown and jumps in the crowd

Players have always enjoyed creative touchdown celebrations on Monday Night Football.
Sadly, my team, the Seattle Seahawks have been on the other side some outrageous celebrations. Who could forget Terrell Owens, of the San Francisco 49ers  pulling a pen out of his pocket to autograph a ball, right on our home field.  Equally painful was Bo Jackson of the Raiders, running into the Kingdome tunnel after a long touchdown.
Last Monday's (October 30th, 2023) match between the Lions and the Raiders featured rookie Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs playful leap into the stands to celebrate with the fans.  Rooting for the Lions is easy since they have never been to a Super Bowl, but probably have seem to have a contender for the first time in decades.

Seahawks Get Big Playoff Win

Will the Seahawks go all the way? They took the first step last with a convincing 26-6 victory over the Detroit Lions.  Thomas Rawls, who had been rather unimpressive since coming back from injury up to the point set a team playoff game record with 161 yards.  Paul Richardson made a one handed touchdown grab on 4th down and Doug Baldwin made an impressive catch to get the team in scoring position in the 4th quarter.
The team will travel to Atlanta, where they face an even tougher task.  They play the Falcons next Saturday.

The Playoffs Begin

The Seahawks will face the Detroit Lions this Saturday in the first round of the Playoffs.  Seattle missed out on a first round bye by losing to Arizona on December 24th.

Golden Tate Leaving The 'Hawks

One of my favorite Seahawks Golden Tate has joined another team via free agency.  Golden Tate has signed a five year deal with the Detroit Lions.  Golden was Seattle's leading wide receiver, but even better, he was the team's "Dennis The Menace" seemingly always falling into some controversy.
The first time that he made news in Seattle, he was caught sneaking into a Top Pot Doughnut shop.  He proceeded to give the company advertising worth hundreds more than what he had taken. Then came the controversial catch to beat the Green Bay Packers on MNF.  ESPN analysts treated it like a national tragedy and the NFL knew they needed to bargain with the striking NFL officials.  There was the taunting of a defender during the Rams game, but after Terrell Owens taking out a pen and autographing a football in our stadium years ago, it was nice to see us doing the trash talk. Tate caught 64 passes for 898 yards last season, and scored 5 touchdowns
I was also sorry to see guard Breno Giacomini leave, the former Seahawk tackle signed with the New York Jets.  His wife was a frequent customer at The UPS Store in Crossroads.  I got to meet Breno at the store a couple weeks ago and congratulate him on the Super Bowl win.

Seahawks Bag The Lions

What started as a dismal day for the Seattle Seahawks down 17-0 at home facing the lowly Detroit Lions turned into a victory. The Seahawks offense started with an interception and a lost fumble on it's first two plays from scrimmage. Both times leading two Lion touchdowns.
Matt Hasselbeck, however stayed with the pass hitting 39 out 51 attempts f0r 329 yards.
Hasselbeck ended the day with the team record for career completions. The Seahawk defense had five interceptions, two from David Hawthorne, one from Marcus Trufant, one from Deon Grant and a final one by Josh Wilson that was run in for a touchdown to seal the deal.
