PAT O'DAY – 1968: The Year that Rocked Washington

One of Seattle's historical figures Pat O'Day, the one guy who broke the gender barrier with having Brenda Jones pilot the Miss KYYX.  O'Day was the founder and owner of KYYX
Pat was the Seattle Hydroplane scene's most visible booster.  The sport survived the loss of its two biggest icons in successive years in the early 80s, but today, seems to be a victim of general disinterest
Seemingly a huge irony.

Here's the deal. The idea just seems all wet now. You go to one of these events and you can't see any of the action or understand what's going on because the action is too far away. Once you get there you are stuck there for hours with no hope of escaping because of the traffic and they usually have little else to do except sitting around watching it. However, there is consolation in the fact that there will always be always be another O'Day on the horizon.
