The Pig'N Pancake

Remodeled recently, the Pig, located on Broadway, is probably Seaside's most well known restaurant. It is primarily a breakfast place, as the name would suggest, but also serves lunches and dinners.
According to it's website, it was established in 1961.  It now has 5 additional locations throughout the Oregon coast and Portland.

Seaside Beach Volleyball Tournament

It's billed as the largest Beach Volleyball Tournament in the world.  We arrived in Seaside, during it's annual event.  Over 150 nets were spread out from North and South of the landmark turnaround. Men and woman of all ages were participating.  Beach Volleyball is now a very popular Olympic sport.  The viewing was free and fun, since we were staying at the Resort At Seaside, we were able to watch from our condo (bottom picture).  We also had lunch on the beach and watched the volleyball players Saturday.

Police Officer Killed In Seaside Oregon

In Seaside,Oregon, where strangers greet each other on a long wide sidewalk known as the Prom, the only danger seems to be the raging Pacific Ocean.  But in what seems to be a peaceful coastal tourist town, a police officer lost his life.
Jason Gooding, a 39 year old, 13 year veteran of the force was shot and killed last Friday outside the popular restaurant Pig N Pancake, Gooding was attempting to serve a warrant on 55 year old Phillip Ferry.  Ferry apparently shot Gooding, when the officer attempted to subdue him.  Another officer, on the scene, returned fire fatally wounding the assailant.  Clatsop County District Attorney Josh Marquis said it was the first killing of an officer in the line of duty in about 30 years.
Seaside has been a favorite vacation destination for residents of the Pacific Northwest.  It has been a summer destination for my family for generations, a tradition that I have passed on to my wife's family.

Trip To Seaside III

We stayed at the Shiloh Inn at the Seaside Turnaround.  Our room was unique in that it had a stairway to a "viewing room" allowing us to see the surf.

Wheels And Waves--Seaside Oregon

We were fortunate to be in Seaside during it's Wheels And Waves car festival.  It featured cars from 1962 and older.  Friday, Broadway (Seaside's Main Street) was blocked off for the event with cars parked all along the street..  Saturday, which was sunny and warm, featured a parade.  Vintage cars could be seen in every parking lot in the town.
