Barers Of Maple Valley is sad to learn of the passing of former Issaquah City Council member Maureen McCarry. McCarry was suffering from ALS and had resigned from the council last year. The Issaquah Press credits her work in bringing a branch of Swedish Hospital to Issaquah and preserving land in the Squak Mountain for wildlife habitat and trail access, an area now known as McCarry Woods.
She is on the right in the above picture.

Illness Forces Maureen McCarry Resignation
I was saddened to learn last week that Maureen McCarry resigned from the Issaquah City Council. McCarry has been suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). I had gotten to know McCarry during my time chairing the 5th District Democrats Endorsement Committee. In 2009, we unanamously recommended her enorsement.
McCarry would often come to 5th district meetings to talk about new environment standards and such for Issaquah that the council had passed. She would frequently join us at the Issaquah Brewpub, as she was extremely personable.
The Issaquah City Council reportedly has taken steps to seek an appointment for the open position.
