Work Continues On Maple Valley Highway

Work has been going on for most of the spring on widening and improving Highway 169 in Maple Valley.  The work on the city's main arterial, will add an additional lane in each direction from Witte Road Southeast in the Lake Wilderness shopping area to Southeast 240th Street.
The work also includes sidewalks, a bike path, turning lanes, and a retention wall.  There is also a bike path.
While the work may make a quicker commute for now, work is taking place to build at Southeast 240th Street (below), which may continue the cycle of growth and the problems it brings to the city.

Dana Parnello Appointed To Maple Valley City Council

The newest face on the Maple Valley City Council is actually a familiar face.  Dana Parnello was recently appointed to the Council to take the place of Victoria Laise Jonas.  Parnello was also appointed to the council in 2010 when charter member Laure Iddings resigned.  He did not run to retain his seat.
Parnello had served on the Maple Valley Planning Commission from 2007 to 2010.
Parnello was appointed to the council by a 6-1 vote, with Linda Johnson being the dissenting vote.
He will be sworn in on August 25th.
