Multiple Jeopardy Winner Has Washington Ties

Courtney Shah had won 7 Jeopardy games in a row before meeting her defeat in an episode airing last night.   Shah is resident of Portland, Oregon, who teaches at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington, just across the Columbia River.

Shah,  usually started slow, but picked up points in the Double Jeopardy round.  Because of her multiple victories, she is eligible for the Jeopardy Tournament Of Champions.

Shah was defeated last night after wagering only $800 dollars on the Final Jeopardy clue, in which she had the correct answer.

Ken Levine Thinks Cooper Right For Jeopardy

TV comedy writer and daily blogger Ken Levine is like me, a real Jeopardy fan.  I mean who would not  love a show where you can watch three contestants stumble on an answer that you know?  I remember that happening on a final Jeopardy question, a week or so ago, and really, I had a lucky guess, with no pressure with TV lights, etc., but I digress.

Ken, in his latest post, thinks that Anderson Cooper, the latest in a series of celebrity fill in hosts, is THE right one for the job, which was vacated by the death of  Alex Trebek.   You can find out why, by clicking here.

Ken Levine Is Used As A Jeopardy Answer

Ken Levine posted this on his blog, while I saw this live.  Ken and his partner,  David Isaacs were part of a question (answer) on Jeopardy.  The question, by the way, was "what is Cheers?"
As a reader of his blog and a Facebook friend, we have interacted on many occasions.  Ken has been, of course, a writer, producer, and director on some of TV's all time greatest comedies, as well as a former Seattle Mariner radio play by play announcer.
He still blogs daily.

Seattle's Ken Jennings Wins Greatest Jeopardy Match

Seattle area resident Ken Jennings won the ultimate Jeopardy match against two other star players.  James Holzhauer, who won most money in a single game and Brad Rudder who had won the most money ever on a TV game show.
The show was reported to be a ratings blockbuster.
Even though the Seahawks fell short in their quest for the Super Bowl, Seattle can also take pride in one of  it's residents owning the Jeopardy greatest of all time trophy.

Holzhauer Reign Comes To An End

James Holzhauer's incredible run on Jeopardy has ended.  A Las Vegas sports gambler, Holzhauer won 32 consecutive games, amassing almost 2 and a half million dollars. He lost to librarian Emma Boettcher, who bet even bolder in the final Jeopardy round.  He was very close to breaking the 15 year record of all time money winner Ken Jennings.
Holzhauer's run and unorthodox style, made Jeopardy compelling television and for the first time, I set Jeopardy on our DVR.
Now, I'll watch tonight to see if Boettcher will go on a similar run.

Jeopardy Contestant Holzhauer Keeps Rolling Along

Jeopardy, one of the oldest game shows running is seeing something it has never seen before.  In 15 games James Holzhauer has accumulated over 1,100,000 dollars becoming the game's second million dollar winner in it's history.
Ken Jennings, the game's previous million dollar winner, took over 70 games to amass his fortune.
Holzhauer's system is to begin by picking the bottom boxes (harder questions worth more money) of the Jeopardy board, amassing more money and beginning getting a huge lead early, seemingly to unnerve his opponents.
It would come as no surprise that Holzhauer's profession is listed as a sports gambler.    He lives in Las Vegas.
Making a living as a sports gambler seems unlikely to most people.  It you ever watched the movie "Rain Man", Nevada does not seem to take kindly to people it thinks have learned to beat the system.

Don Pardo--The Voice

When workers had their Monday morning water cooler discussions about SNL, chances are, they didn't talk about Don Pardo.  You may not have heard of Don Pardo, but you probably heard him.  He was the voice of Saturday Night Live for nearly 40 years.  Because of Pardo, you knew the players, knew the guest host, and the music act.  Don Pardo had a 70 year career at NBC, being the studio announcer for The Price Is Right, Jackpot, and Jeopardy.
Don Pardo died this week at 96.
