1977 Letter To Walla Walla Paper

Since her husband, my Great Uncle Dave was a refuge, her seeing a Swastika displayed was especially infuriating

Good post Mike. Printing Nazi imagery in a celebratory context normalizes symbols of genocide and white supremacy. It directly dishonors the memory of Holocaust victims and veterans who fought against fascism. Validating groups that display these symbols can encourage hate-fueled behavior and division in the community. Media outlets have a duty to provide critical context rather than glorifying hate symbols. There is a distinct line between reporting on a subculture and actively celebrating it. Validating extremist imagery severely damages the newspaper's credibility and editorial integrity.

Very well said! Such imagery should only be shown in educational and historical contexts. And it certainly shouldn't be celebrated!
