Cougar's Campaign For St Jude Hospital Successful.

A WSU student who underestimated the power of social media has now helped  raised over 100 dollars for St Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Danni Messina pledge a quarter donation for every "like" and 50 cents for each retweet to be donated in a tweet that she made last year.  She thought a thousand dollars would be enough.  When she found out she owed $200,000, she set up a go fund me page with a goal of 50 thousand dollars.  Today, that page has raised almost 102 thousand dollars.   No doubt that is money that is much needed.  In my mind, this makes this member of  our Cougar family a national hero!

Fellow Cougar Danni Messina made headlines when her twitter promise to donate to St. Jude's Chilren's Hospital had gotten well above what she could afford.  She could have dropped the whole matter, but instead, her gofundme page has gotten higher than she ever could have imagined and is still going.   I too, contributed!
At this post, over $95,000 has been raised on her gofundme page.  Messina seems to be dealing with her new found celebrity real well and although this fame will not last long, her gifts will be appreciated forever. 

WSU Student Overplays Her Hand With Charity Pledge

There is goodness in the world, perhaps too much goodness for WSU student Danni Messina.  Messina was so moved by hearing of the works of St Jude's Children's Research Hospital that she pledged to donate a quarter for every favorite (like) and 50 cents for every retweet of her tweet touting the hospital.  The Cougar do-gooder had planned a budget of $1000 dollars.  She soon wound up owing $200 thousand.
 Anxious to make good with her pledge, Messina set up a gofundme page,  with donations from people touched by Danni giving spirit, at this writing, $57,000 has been raised.  Either way, my fellow Cougar has brought much wanted attention to St. Jude, which should benefit the medical center in many ways.
