Seattle Times: Sports Reporters To Be Read, Not Heard

My favorite sports blog, Seattle Sportsnet, reports that starting September 5th of this year, the Seattle Times will not allow it's sports staff to appear in other local media.  Sportsradio KJR 950 has routinely sought analysis from reporters from both Seattle Times and the Tacoma News Tribune.  I first heard of John Clayton from from former KJR host Mike Gastineau's afternoon show, Clayton at the time, was a reporter for the Tacoma paper. Clayton would eventually shoot to fame as an ESPN football analyst.
Presently, Seattle Times reporters Ryan Divish (baseball) and Bob Condotta  (football) are prominently featured on KJR. 
According to Sportsnet, this was an order from the Times publisher, perhaps in response to attacks from KJR talk show hosts attacking the paper's stance on the building of the proposed Sodo arena.  The Times editorially has been a critic of the Sodo Project and an advocate for a remodel of the Key Arena at the Seattle Center.

The Seattle Times has recently run a series of editorials opposing the proposed sports arena in the Sodo district.  A recent Alex Akita post in the Seattle Sportsnet suggests evidence shows the paper may be exaggerating some facts as part of a "personal vendetta" against Cris Hanson. and the project. Seattle Sportsnet Blog Puts Last Sunday's Loss In Perspective

Alex Akita, blogger at Seattle Sportsnet, compares the Seahawks loss last Sunday with the shocking Seattle Super Sonics loss in 1994.  Seattle had the best record in the NBA and faced the lowly Denver Nuggets in the first round.  The Nuggets beat the team in the 5th game rubber match.  It was at the time, the most painful moment in Seattle sports.   Especially, because at the time, Michael Jordan had retired, so the Sonics were widely thought to be the favorite to win it all.  You can read the post here

Seattle Sportsnet Laments "Death Of A Rivalry"

One of the Seattle area's favorite bloggers, Alex of Seattle Sportsnet, speaks of what he sees as the fall of the San Francisco 49ers.     Media sources are all predicting the end of the Jim Harbaugh era.   Harbaugh of course, the Niners controversial coach, whose rivalry with fellow former Pac 12 coach Pete Carroll fueled local talk radio and sports blogs.  You can find the story by clicking here
