Mariners Investigated After Ex Employee Claims Racism

The Seattle Mariners will be investigated by Major League Baseball after a fired employee, Lorena Martin accused the GM, Jerry Dipoto , Manager, Scott Servais, and director of player development, Andy McKay of making anti-Hispanic comments.

As sad as this  is, and I don't want to assume innocence or guilt until more evidence comes forward,  it shows the organization does not appear to be going in the right direction.  The Mariners have the longest playoff draught of any major professional team in any sport. 

Mariner Hurler Throws No No In Native Country

Things seem to be looking up for the Seattle Mariners this season as they are 20-14 out of the blocks.  Mariner James Paxton, known as The Big Maple due to his Canadian heritage pitched a no-hitter in Toronto, becoming the first Canadian native to ever pitch a no hitter in Canada.
Dick Fowler is the only other Canadian to pitch a no-hitter.  Fowler pitched for the Philadelphia A's in 1945.
The Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 to begin a seven day road trip.

Mariner Food Offering May "Bug" Fans

The city of Seattle is known for it's multi-culturalism and also for being on the cutting edge of many trends, but the latest buzz or maybe chirp concerns a new offering at the Mariner's Safeco Field.  The team has announced that one of it's food vendors, Poquitos, will sell Chapulines, that's grasshoppers, as a food offering. 
Are fans tire of hot dogs, peanuts, and Crackerjacks?  With the wave of new ballparks starting in the 1990s, food offerings increased, Safeco Field was one of the first parks to offer sushi. 
Grasshoppers can be served with a taco or in a cup on it's own. 
The Mariner team itself needs to do a little "hopping", the team is off to a horrible 1 and 5 start.

Piniella To Be Inducted

Lou Piniella, not only the Seattle's most successful manager, but arguably it's only successful manager, will be inducted into the team's hall of fame this summer.  Piniella guided the club to 7 winning seasons and 4 play-off appearances.  To look at the Mariners history with Piniella compared to other managers of the team, it is like looking at 2 separate ball clubs.  The induction ceremony will take place on August 9th  when the Mariners play the Chicago White Sox.
