5th District Democrats Endorse In Races

The Democrats of Washington's 5th Legislative District endorsed in four local races. The lack of partisan contests as well as lack of opposition made the process quicker. In the race for Port Commissioner Position 2, incumbent Gael Tarleton (above) was endorsed. The 5th also endorsed Sammamish resident, Dean Willard for Position 5 on the Commission. Josh Schaer, the only Issaquah City Councilmen drawing an opponent, also received endorsement as well as Lloyd Hara, who is running unopposed to retain his job as County Assessor. The 5th district also endorsed "no" votes on Initiatives 1119, 1122, and 1125.

Willard Running For Port Commision

Sammamish resident Dean Willard, a technology consultant and former Vice President at T-Mobile, is seeking Position 5 on the Seattle Port Commission. Willard, who last year campaigned as a Democrat to Represent the 5th District in the State House Representatives, will run against incumbent Bill Bryant and Will Knedlick in this August's primary for the non-partisan (at least in name) position.

Top 2 Primary Ends Willard Candidacy

Dean Willard's attempt to finally have a Democrat representing the 5th LD in the State House came to an end Tuesday. Willard finished third to incumbent Republican Glenn Anderson and 2008 Democratic Challenger David Spring in last Tuesday's top 2 primary. Willard, in his first run for public office was ahead on fundraising and endorsements--he pretty much campaigned against Anderson rather than Spring, a candidate who generally runs on a shoestring budget.

Democrat Greg Hoover is challenging incumbent Republican Jay Rodne for the other State House position.

Dean Willard Kicks Off Campaign

A capacity crowd at Issaquah wine and espresso bar Vino Bella was on hand from across the Eastside to support the candidacy of Dean Willard for 5th District House Of Representatives. The position that Willard is running for is currently held by Glenn Anderson, a Republican incumbent of 10 years who himself has said that he has very little to the goings on in Olympia.

Dean Willard will kick of his campaign for Washington State House Of Representatives tonight
at Vino Bella Wine Bar in Issaquah. The Event starts at 6 this evening and includes some special guests. Vino Bella is a 99 Front Street. Willard is vying for a chance to take on Republican Representative Glen Anderson, who has held the seat in the 5th District for a decade.

2 5th District Democrats To Run For State House

Democrats Greg Hoover and Dean Willard are challenging the 5th District incumbents in the Washington State House Of Representatives.

Hoover, Willard Nominated And Endorsed For Legislative Positions

The 5th District Democrats have nominated and endorsed Greg Hoover (top picture) to run for position 1, in the State House Of Representatives in that district. The position is currently held by Republican Jay Rodne. Telecom Consultant Dean Willard (lower picture) was chosen over North Bend teacher David Spring to run for position 2 against GOP incumbent Glen Anderson. The 5th District includes parts of Maple Valley, Issaquah, Renton, Sammamish, Preston, Fall City, And North Bend. While Democrats have won victories in nearby districts formerly belonging to Republicans, Democrats in the 5th have yet to taste a recent victory.

David Spring Will Run In 5th District

North Bend teacher David Spring has announced that he will make his second run for the Washington State Legislature. Spring says that he will for the 5th District House seat now held by Republican Glenn Anderson. Spring is a Democrat. Sammamish telecom consultant Dean Willard, also a Democrat, has also declared his candidacy for that position.

Dean Willard Will Run For State House

Former T-Mobile Vice President Dean Willard has declared his intention to run for the Washington State House Of Representatives. Willard, a Sammamish resident, plans to run for the seat held by Glenn Anderson, a Fall City Republican, in the 5th Legislative district. Willard is a Democrat and represents the 5th on the State Democratic Central Committee. He also chaired the Endorsement committee for the King County Democratic Central Committee. Willard is currently a security and information technology consultant. Willard was also involved in Joe Mallahan's recent Seattle mayoral campaign.
