Dave Grosby Retires

Seattle Sports Reporter and talk show host Dave Grosby retired from his regular radio show last Friday.
 Grosby has worked in broadcasting for 29 years, becoming well known reporting sports on KIRO radio before teaming up with Mike Gastineau on Sportsradio 950 KJR.  He returned to KIRO AM when it became 710ESPN, a full time sports station.
Grosby says that he will still be involved with the station in various ways.

Sports Industry Spotlight Interview with Shannon Drayer of EPSN. Part 1

When I met Shannon Drayer last January at the Hutch Awards.  She surprised me by mentioning that she knew me from reading this blog.  Being a huge Mariner fan, it's only natural that I should dedicate a post to her.  Shannon's a Cinderella story in Seattle sports media, once a barista at Starbuck's who submitted a tape to enter a contest, much like Q-13's Aaron Levine was on the ESPN talent search show "Dream Job".  She is now the traveling reporter for Mariner flagship station 710ESPN.  She also writes a blog for the team. 

NFL Films Does Steve Raible Feature

NFL films recently did a feature on Seahawk radio announcer Steve Raible. In addition to broadcasting 'Hawk games, he co-anchors the evening news on KIRO-7.  Most of us have forgotten, at least I had, that he was one of the original Seahawk players.  Raible was back up wide receiver to Steve Largent.  You can check out the feature by clicking here.

Cougar Sports Move To 710 ESPN

Seattle area Cougar Football and Men's Basketball fans have been angry for the past few years.   WSU Sports have been heard on local radio stations like 770 and 1090, neither station known for it's sport's coverage. This coming season, Cougar Sports are moving to 710 ESPN, the former KIRO news radio.  This means the Cougar Broadcasts will go head to head with Husky Broadcasts on 950 KJR, Seattle other sports station.  It should be more radio coverage for WSU athletics.
Veteran Broadcaster, Bob Robertson will continue to do play by play on the football broadcasts, but former Coach Jim Walden was removed by Athletic Director Bill Moos.  Walden will be replaced by Bud Nemeck (the basketball play by play announcer) and Shawn McWashington, who was a stand out running back on the 1997 Cougar Rose Bowl team.
