NBA Expansion Possibly Delayed

New wrinkle in the process of bringing the NBA back to Seattle. It's not from here though, it's from the proposed Las Vegas team.  Former Sonic fans have already been extemely skeptical as to whether this will happen.
Brodie Brazil, a YouTube sports reporter elaborates.

Thank you for the insights Mike. While Las Vegas has dominated recent headlines due to a hyper-competitive, high-stakes bidding war (with franchises projected to fetch up to $12–$13 billion), Seattle’s bid is much more straightforward.
    • Infrastructure Readiness: NBA Commissioner Adam Silver noted that Climate Pledge Arena is already fully approved by the league and could be 100% modified and ready for NBA basketball in just five weeks.
    • Fewer Operational Variables: Las Vegas still has to figure out site selections and arena construction. Seattle has an established, clear frontrunner ownership group—One Roof Sports and Entertainment, led by Kraken chair Samantha Holloway. Seattle represents operational stability, while Vegas represents raw market speculation.
    2. A Remedy for a 20-Year Historical Injustice
Bringing the NBA back to Seattle isn't just about expanding the market; it’s about fixing one of the most painful chapters in modern sports history.
    • The Ghost of 2008: When the SuperSonics relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008, it left a massive void in a city that had passionately supported a one-time champion franchise for 41 seasons.
    • An Authentically Rooted Basketball Culture: Unlike cities built entirely on sports tourism, Seattle has a deep homegrown basketball ecosystem. The region continuously produces elite NBA talent (like Paolo Banchero, Dejounte Murray, and Zach LaVine), meaning an expansion team isn't forcing a culture—it's returning to its rightful home.
    3. Financial Realities and the $7 Billion Price Tag
The financial landscape of sports has shifted drastically since 2008, and Seattle's entry will highlight the staggering inflation of pro sports franchises.
    • Eye-Popping Valuations: A Seattle franchise is expected to command a fee around $6 to $7 billion.
    • The Existing Owners' Windfall: Because expansion fees are split entirely among the active 30 NBA owners and are not subject to revenue sharing with the players' union, the existing teams have a massive, multi-billion-dollar incentive to approve Seattle and Vegas. It’s a brilliant short-term cash injection for the league that also secures a Top 10 media market for long-term growth.
    4. Pacific Northwest Territorial Rivalries
An insightful basketball mind will look at how this changes the geography of the league.
    • The Return of the I-5 Rivalry: The immediate resurrection of the Portland Trail Blazers vs. Seattle SuperSonics rivalry will instantly become one of the most fierce, organic matchups in the Western Conference.
    • Conference Realignment: Adding two teams in the West (Seattle and Las Vegas) means the NBA will finally have to shift at least one Western Conference team over to the Eastern Conference. This could reshape the competitive balance of the entire league, potentially moving a team like the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, or Memphis Grizzlies to the East.
