Thank you for reminding of this anticipated event Sunday. The Chargers are sitting at a disappointing 0-3. They are fighting to avoid a devastating 0-4 hole, which they haven't experienced since 2017. Meanwhile, Seattle just had their massive 12-game winning streak snapped by Washington last week. Mike Macdonald has notoriously never lost back-to-back games as the Seahawks head coach, so the Bolts are walking into a hornets' nest at Lumen Field. Watch the trench battle when the Chargers try to run—they are trying to break an ongoing, elite NFL record. The Seahawks' defense has not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 32 consecutive games. This spells terrible news for Jim Harbaugh's physical identity. The Chargers' ground game under Omarion Hampton has struggled heavily, ranking near the bottom of the league in EPA. Adding to the drama, Hampton has been heavily plagued by fumbles early this season, and Seattle’s front four—led by Leonard Williams—is openly "chomping at the bit" to exploit that. Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba became the first player in NFL history to record at least 8 catches, 120 receiving yards, and a touchdown in each of his team's first three games of a season. He already has 405 yards and 6 touchdowns. If the Chargers' secondary (which could be missing a banged-up Derwin James) can't contain him, JSN is on pace for a historically shattering statistical season. LA chargers quarterback Herbert is suffering through one of his worst statistical stretches. His turnover-worthy play rate is sitting at a staggering 6% this season compared to a career average of just 2%. With his offensive line falling apart and dealing with injuries, Herbert is rushing decisions. Mike Macdonald’s defensive schemes are famous for disguising coverages and confusing quarterbacks—expect plenty of disguised blitzes to test Herbert's crumbling pocket confidence.
