Acting In A Little Theater Production

My dad acted as a hobby.  One of his roles was as the mailman, Charlie in the Walla Walla Little Theater play,  On Golden Pond.
Steve found an article in the Union-Bulletin archives.

Great nostalgic post Mike. Alan Barer played the character of Charlie Martin, the local middle-aged mailman, in the February 1981 production of On Golden Pond at the Little Theatre of Walla Walla. In a review published on opening weekend by the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, Alan Barer's performance was praised as a standout "character study" that contributed heavily to the show's engaging, realistic slice-of-life charm. Charlie Martin is the cheerful, New England-accented mailman who delivers mail by boat to the lakeside cabins and provides comic relief while navigating a lifelong crush on the main couple's daughter, Chelsea. Seeing mentions of old Walla Walla theater life—like your brother Danny appearing in The Man Who Came to Dinner alongside local radio legends—shows what a true family affair the local arts scene was for the Barers. Your father Alan's era at the Little Theater represents a gold standard of local civic engagement and creative heart. It’s wonderful looking back at how deeply involved your parents were with the Little Theatre of Walla Walla. Community theater thrives on that kind of passion, and their dedication helped weave the vibrant cultural fabric of Walla Walla during such a classic era.
