Ex Monkee Michael Nesmith Dead At 78

Reports say that Michael Nesmith, who gained fame in the mid 1960s with The Monkees, a rock band created for a TV show, has died.   Although the band was originally fictional, the group released a number of successful hits, although a scandal was created when it was learned that the band didn't play it's own instruments.   Eventually, the band, would start playing the instruments.

Nesmith, from Texas was indeed versed in music and had written the Linda Ronstadt classic "Different Drum".

Nesmith's mother invented the correction fluid known today as "liquid paper"    Nesmith inherited the bulk of his mother's estate.

My favorite member of the Monkees, when the show was on, I wanted the "double breasted shirt" and the wool cap, that Nesmith wore on the show.

Nesmith's passing leaves Micky Dolenz as the only surviving member of the Monkees.  Davy Jones and Peter Tork preceded Nesmith in death.

Michael Nesmith was 78.

  1. At their last live gig Mike didn't look very energetic compared to Mickey.
