Mt. St. Helens Eruption May 18, 1980

An unforgettable moment.  I was at WSU, over 300 miles away, where the skies turned dark.  Then ash began falling like snow. For the next few weeks, the city of Pullman was bogged down in ash and students were allowed to leave campus, skipping finals.  The city was a ghost town.
The eruption of Mount St. Helens was 41 years ago, today.
