Review--Wild Card: Downfall Of A Radio Loudmouth

This show is not for everybody, it is the story of  a New York Sports "shock jock" who teams up with well known former Quarterback Boomer Esiason to form the Boomer and Carton radio show on WFAN.

Carton's big break is when he is chosen to replace legendary Shock Jock Don Imus who gets in trouble for comments about a women's sports team.

Boomer and Carton rocket up to number one because of  Carton's unabashed and uninhibited style.  You either loved or hated him, but if you hated him, you want to hear what next he had to say.

Carton was open about his love of gambling but few people knew of what extent.  He got himself deep into debt and  it forced him into doing things that were unlawful.  He was arrested by the FBI, an event that shocked even those closest to him

This show was recommended by Mitch Levy on the Mitch Unfiltered podcast, Mitch, who went to Syracuse at  the same time as Carton, knew him in passing.  Levy, in years past, has had to wrestle his own demons

As Carton explains during the show, it seems like he has come to grips with his troubles. It would seem that the drive to become number one can often have unpleasant side effects if channeled in the wrong direction.

Wildcard: Downfall Of A Radio Loudmouth can be seen on HBO.
