Political Giant Birch Bayh Dies

One of the great leaders of the 20th Century, Birch Bayh died last week.  Bayh was a Democrat representing what we would now call a "Red State" Indiana.
Bayh was the lead sponsor of Title IX which prohibited gender discrimination  in education. He also helped craft the 25th and 26th amendments to the constitution.
He was a candidate for the 1976 Democratic nomination for President.  He would lose his seat in the 1980 Reagan landslide to Dan Quayle who would eventually become Vice President of the United States.
Bayh's son, Evan, would later become a governor of Indiana and eventually a senator.
