Veteran Maple Valley Council Member Jonas Will Resign

The Covington Reporter has just announced that veteran Maple Valley City Councilwoman Victoria Laise Jonas will resign her seat in late June because she will be leaving the city.   Jonas was elected to the Council in 1999.  At the time, Maple Valley had only been incorporated for a couple of years.
Since then, the city has seen rapid commercial growth, however Jonas will be most remembered for her work with the city's food bank and it's weekly seasonal Maple Valley Farmer's Market, which she co-founded.  Jonas will continue to operate the market this year, commuting from her new home in Key Peninsula.
Known for her dedication to public service, she has been a volunteer for the "Maple Valley Make A Difference Day" committee and is on the Lake Wilderness Arboretum Foudation.  According to The Reporter, she is the longest serving elected official in Maple Valley history.
