Hymon & Parfunkel At The Village

Last weekend, we watched We Ain't Never Gonna Breakup The Hymon and Parfunkel Musical at the Village Theater in Issaquah.
It is not loosely based biography of Simon and Garfunkel, but an absurdist musical look at the 60s through the eyes of a fictional folk dou largely resembling the legendary folk duo.

Great post Miker sound like a great time for all. While the show is a comedy, their actual singing voices blend beautifully to evoke that classic, earnest 1960s folk-rock charm. Watching just two actors play all their own instruments live on stage for 90 minutes straight is incredibly impressive. You can feel the real-life lifelong friendship between Gregg Hammer and Louis Pardo anchoring all the ridiculous comedy. Their parodies perfectly lampoon the tired, overdone tropes of traditional bio-musicals and jukebox shows like Jersey Boys or Mamma Mia! From performing fake Christian folk music to a chaotic fictional set at Woodstock, their fictional backstory is packed with non-stop belly laughs. The duo effortlessly shifts between playing themselves and dozens of other eccentric characters they meet on their rocky road to fame. Beneath the "utterly wrong" jokes and sharp satire lies a very sweet, genuine love letter to friendship and artistic partnership. It is the ultimate feel-good buddy comedy that provides the perfect, lighthearted escape.
