Kona Ice Truck Visits Patrick's Faire Park

In a converted ambulance, the Kona Ice truck visited Patrick's Faire Park in Maple Valley, not far from our house.
On a hot day, it sold shaved ice to cool down customers.  It's lights were flashing and it's music was blaring.
We were there with Oliver and enjoyed the treat.

Vols Beat Aggies--Win World Championship

Congratulations to my wife's alma mater Tennessee for beating Texas A&M in the best of three series and winning the College World Series.

This is, literally, the first time I paid attention to college baseball, but the excitement of our team winning its first championship ever was captivating.

Thanks, Kathy!: Kathy Brock anchors her final newscast on ABC7

A few years ago, Kathy Brock retired from her primetime job anchoring the news at WLS TV in Chicago.  She was at the station for about 28 years.
What's amazing is that at WSU, we were in the same TV news class, and I believe we did a newscast together, of course, it was only on cable, but I actually rubbed elbows with greatness. I also had a couple other Communications classes with her.
Out of curiosity, I scoured You Tube last night, looking for videos and found some tributes to her as she did her last newscast.  Above is one of several.
Kathy is a native of Pasco, Washington.

Sign Honors Seattle History

We saw this in Capitol Hill of Seattle. This was painted on a Seattle apartment building to honor what was once Seattle's Auto Row.
The Rock band, REO Speedwagon, was actually named after this vehicle from yesteryear, which is said to be the forerunner of the pickup truck.

With Patty Murray

In her first term, I believe US Senator Patty Murray poses with Deb and I.
Murray is currently serving her 6th term.
This is a picture of a picture, so it is a little blurry.

So Long Say Hey Kid

Willie Mays, whose charisma and exciting play went a long way toward making me a baseball enthusiast, has died.

One of the last baseball icons of his era and considered by many as the greatest player of all time was 93.

Vintage Beatles In Concert

I just found this on You Tube, I believe it was a Seattle Concert, because it described the venue as the "Washington Coliseum".  If that's it, it's now "Climate Pledge Arena".

This really captures the band's charisma.

Jerry West Dies

ESPN reports Los Angeles Laker Legend Jerry West has died.  West was 86.
West's contributions to basketball are amazing, he is a 14 time all-star, a three-time Naismith Hall Of Fame inductee. and still, even more extraordinary, the model for the NBA logo.

Dick Van Dyke Wins Daytime Emmy At 98

Dick Van Dyke, a beloved actor who has been in showbiz, for almost my entire life, has become the oldest actor to win a Daytime Emmy

Van Dyke won for his part on Peacock's Days Of Our Lives.  He is 98.

The Dick Van Dyke Show was a favorite of mine in the early 1960s.  Van Dyke also had a part in the children's classic Mary Poppins.  He has also won hearts in a variety of TV movies and series.
